MK Airlines to become British Global??
So, the aircraft are to become G-registered !
Having seen some MK crews in the Anchor / Haywagon pubs and forming a que at the CAA flight crew licence counter converting South African licence's to JAA ones, only the aircraft will be British.. Dont bother changing the name . Good luck though !

9G-MKM
9G-MKM will become G-MKCA on the 30th Jan. Set complete. Pat Pearse is now the day to day boss leaving Kruger to concentrate what he is good at. One has to assume they are planning to run the -200F old bangers out.
I hear they HAVE some very heavy weight backing - both financial and expertise.
Good luck MK Airlines (BGB?). Global domination beckons!

A lot of cargo goes in and out of the UK by road once it lands at Manston or Ostend, Dover is close so it makes sense...besides, Heathrow and Gatwick are expensive. Also, using a G reg. has more benefits to enable you to go to other countries, not just the UK.

Route License Application
On todays CAA Route License Notices I note that MK has submitted an application:
"S/054 MK Airlines Limited trading as British Global has applied to operate schedule flights between any combination of points within the terms of the holder’s Air Operator’s Certificate."

Hold on a minute. to those earlier posters who mentioned licences and nationalities.
After Halifax they sorted themselves out.
I would rather have the scions of colonials and their new uk standards in this airspace and country than some of the visiting airlines and freeloading first generation immigrants we have now.

It wasn't sneering, just an apposite comment. Those amongst us who've known MK in any capacity will see the sense of it, and there is no obligation on anyone to give full explanations of their views. And manstonman is a Pprune chum of mine.

Dealing with SLF is one pain in the rear, especially if you are a dedicated cgo carrier which is all ready up and running , its a totally different ball game i can assure you that having been involved with the setting up of a pax airline while working for a cgo airline its a nightmare. If the cgo flt is late by a few hours not a train smash, but if a pax airline runs late you have never heard such a commotion especially in africa you open up a whole can of worms...wud suggest that MK sticks with what he is doing and knows best..loading pallets is much easier then SLF by far.

MK pax possibilities
MK Airlines did indeed operate a combi service out of Nairobi in the early and mid-1990's but I heard were run out of town by British Airways. They also carried multiple pax on charters etc. I understand that they opted to focus on cargo. And from what I recall, the Icelandic AOC they held sometime ago is used by a pax operation. Who knows though: maybe they are preparing for the collapse of Air Zimbabwe ???. Great airline and even greater people, I hope the G reg works for them
