If you look on the Military Forum, it is reported that maintenance personnel were working on the Tristars at Bruntingthorpe recently. The story was that two of them are to be scrapped (probably the ex-Pan Am passenger aircraft) and the other four (tankers) are soon to be flown out.

That would be interesting.

I think the Bruntingthorpe Tristars will be in a lot better condition then the Flying Hospital and easier (and cheaper) to return to service.

The irony will be that if they do return to service, they will probably be hired out to the RAF!

The Barq 1011´s N-Reg´s ( N162AT, 164AT and 194AT, which have been renewed by the end of last year ) recently have been deregistered and have been " exported to Panama ". Of course this is only on paper and they surely have never left the RKT desert ....

So it seems like this was it with the plans of M.M. to bring the 1011´s back in Service with Barq Aviation ( just for those, who ever believed it .... ).

Does anybody know, who is " United Wings Inc. " ? Seems to be the new owner of the 1011´s, but there is absolutely nothing to find in the www ..

Anymore news on these, some internet pictures show at least one has had some bits removed. In general Bruntinghthorpe isn't talked about much.

As the owner of Barq (M.M.) recently passed, it's likely the end of the road for this 'project'.

That´s what I´ve also heard / read. M.M. passed away a few months ago.

May he rest in peace.

That Tristar as far as i know has not moved since 411 landed it.
Was owned by Middle East ones. Was contacted years ago about operating it again.
411 passed, he was the only one that could have made this happen.
Will rot in Honduras and probably be cut up sad for any air frame.

I believe the only operational L-1011 is Stargazer, N140SC operated by Orbital ATK, now owned by Northrop-Grumman. Its an ex-Air Canada L-1011-385-1, MSN 1067.
She originally had Rolls Royce RB211-22B engines but I believe has been re-engine with -524 models of higher power and far greater reliability. She is used for launching Pegasus rockets.

Who would be providing the mx authority for Stargazer, as Lockheed must have terminated any support ? Or is it deemed experimental for certification purposes ?

Whatever happened to the Sands Corp TriStar, as it was in superb condition, albeit stored a few years ago ?

There’s one in entebbe, Uganda that I’ve seen moved to different spots on occasion, after it flew. Why would one operate an L1011 when DC-10’s and MD-11’s are easier and cheaper to maintain?

Wow can the crew that moved 194ATA out of Miami to Amman claim the pay that this one cheated us out of for the scrap?
Think he cheated one too many times.
Most airplane that goes to Ras al Khamia is a end of life one.
L1011 found there from lease company missing for some time in Thailand no lease payments made.
One 727 company airplane went there also hiring promising jobs.
Airplanes bought from Canadian company, fresh C checks they claimed.
Heard they hired ones from Bolivia that crashed airplanes that ran out off fuel into trees etc.
Anything in the middle east is bad news and all should be very cautious about being paid about moving airplanes tickets home etc.
Was asked to move that 727 told would guarantee me a position with company.., they would fly DHL.
What a joke and laugh, smarter than that dealing with Turks and middle east ones.
Buyer beware
Too many jobs out there now, they can deal with this with there own culture.
