Ok, so to sum this up:
- 747 operator
- accepts low timers
- will pay rating w/ bond
- almost a custom made roster
...but the starting pay is low-ish once you deduct taxes and your expenses, plus you won't exactly know your annual salary and there's no benefits and pension? What is people's experience with a.) tax liability for an EU citizen and b.) which expenses are covered by employer and which not?
Trying to get an idea how much you actually have for your homebase life when spending all that time off. SO/FO level.

As a captain you will make something like 400USD/day (NOT EUR). Count maybe 20USD less if you come from 737. Plus 50 per-diem. So that's 450/day. Expect to fly 3 weeks, then 3 weeks off etc, BUT expect to fly only 9-10 rotations. Disregard overtime pay, very few pilots did overtime this Hajj (google). This computes to roughly 95K, USD. Now how is your taxation? And pension? And health insurance? Also, the type rating is 23,500USD, expect to pay 10K upfront, them they deduct 9x1500.

C152 gal, nothing in that last post of yours is true. Therefore, you’re either not who claim you are, (first officer wasn’t it? Or is it cruise relief?) or you’re getting your information from an unreliable source. Do you actually work for this outfit? Doesn’t sound like it to me, and I actually do.
The message I tried to convey to someone coming from a 737 and stepping into this outfit: don't expect 130K, don't count on overtime (but who knows what 2018 Hajj will be like) and don't count on 12 ''salaries'', even if you make yourself available all year round, and don't expect your daily fee to be 550USD.
I felt this is worth mentioning because I saw, see and will continue to see so many folks come and go because everyone has too high expectations.

I have passed the interview, however turned it down. The salary is just way to low in the current marked. plus they are subtracting the rating from your salary over 3 years so you are actually paying for the rating (23000usd). Salary is a huge joke in my opinion. I was offered 350usd plus 50usd allowance. The 50usd you will def spend on food as you will be staying in hotels downroute were food is not provided. on a 3/2 roster that would be an average of 16 days a month, plus i heard you will have some more unpaid leave in winter, so best case szenario you are clearing 76800 USD gross a year, before tax!!minus the typrating costs hahaha In my opinion this is a fu.... insult for a B747 captain. Even if the salary goes up a bit after a year this is still a f.... joke....

If your base is Jeddah, what does that mean exactely? Do you have to rent your own appartment there, or does the company provide accomodation? Do they arrange for any travelling to/from your "real" home, or is this your own responsibility?

NO they arrange, accomodation and tickets from your home to jeddah, but tickets are cattle class.... and as mentioned above pay is super super low..... And jeddah is pretty much just as bad as china so you might aswell go to china and get paid 4 times more to do the same **** job....

Anyone who can shed some light on SO recruitment? What is the deal in terms of salary. I know it is Jeddah based, do they provide hotel/accomodation there? And living in western Europe, do they pay for flights to and from jeddah?
PPJN says 110 USD per day for SO. Does this mean based on maybe 15 working days a month that the salary will only be around 1700USD? What about the typerating? I know it's a 3 year bond, but do I still need to pay 10k upfront?
1100USD per month going to the TR will only leave you with 600USD a month. So I guess I'm making wrong assumptions here. Any FO in AAI who could help me out?

Pay is deceiving there
Greetings, as a former AAI driver most important aspect of the pay scheme is to know you are paid the days you are available to fly. On the rotation, your off days are not paid days. So monthly / daily rates on a long contract will be less than one would normally calculate, yearly.
The pay has increased somewhat, but still deficient in the jumbo jet world.
Training is top notch, with many instructors of the Ex BA variety who know the B744 quite well.
There are other options throughout the year, but AAI furloughs at will, and will " send you home", at any time.
In my days there, fabulous group of aviators, fun as well.
Definitely a different cup of tea.
