CX aircraft orders
Hi folks,
Does CX plan to buy new airplanes in the next few years (is the A380 expected in fragrant harbour?)? |
Read and heed
It needs to hire additional employees to operate three previously ordered A340-600 aircraft due for delivery later this year and early 2003, plus the three new A330-300 and three Boeing 777-300 aircraft that were ordered last month for delivery 2003 and early 2004.
The airline will recruit 200 cabin crew this year and 800 more in 2003/04, it said. It will take on 235 new pilots both from its Hong Kong cadet training programme and a pool of qualified overseas pilots. http://www.ananova.com/business/inde...ways+Ltd&menu= |
DHL is expected to announce HKG Cargo Hub plans any day now. Rumour is that CX is shopping around for 10 A300s to operate this (probably as part of Air HKG)

Hong Kong, Aug. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd.,
Hong Kong's largest carrier, plans to lease as many as six Airbus SAS A380 aircraft from International Lease Finance Corp., Air Transport World said, citing unidentified airline officials. The aircraft, which will seat about 550 people, will be used on routes linking Hong Kong to London and Los Angeles. Cathay Pacific now runs two daily Boeing 747-400 services between Hong Kong and London, and four weekly flights using an Airbus A340 on the same route. International Lease Finance Corp., the world's largest aircraft lessor by assets, agreed to buy 10 A380s from Europe's Airbus last year. Five of the orders are for freighters, some of which may go to Cathay, the trade magazine's Web site said. The leasing agreement strengthens Airbus claims that airlines want bigger jets on key routes, as traffic congestion at airports prevent more frequencies. (Air Transport World, 8-1) |
