December to Remember?

Only half the month left....seems a tad quiet. Watching in hope for you guys. Stay strong.

Average Fool 15th December 2017 14:24

I would but......

I have.......

I need that trip because......

Im afraid, weak, selfish and would rather someone else fight my battles.

DropKnee 15th December 2017 19:57

Sounds about right with this group!

Trafalgar 15th December 2017 23:28

If there is not strong individual action, then the career is 'over'. Don't doubt that. Let's see what happens in the next week or so. Your careers, and their ultimate value are in your hands. If you are not going to take some sort of action to defend it, then you will deserve the worthless 'career' that you undoubtedly will realise. This is the only chance we all have. Use it wisely.

Liam Gallagher 16th December 2017 00:31

Where's the HKAOA?

Traf, I am not saying you are wrong, but "individual action"? WTF is the HKAOA? I want to be part of a coordinated action, not an army of one.

This year I have held back on the "sickness" and have a couple of rounds in the mag, just need some tracer to follow.

Awaiting Fire Control Orders........

Trafalgar 16th December 2017 00:36

If we wait for the AOA, we will wait until 'the hot place freezes over'. The AOA is not going to do/say anything that will cause this management to lose sleep. We however can resolve to do so simply by taking individual initiative. We did it back in 1999 and it was very effective. I am sorry that we are down to that option (again...) but it is the only choice we have. We don't have to like it, but we at least need to recognise it. Take action now or accept that CX as a career airline is over, forever.

Trafalgar 16th December 2017 01:42

Well, I could point out the numerous 'strategic' cancellations that have been going on for months for lack of crew. Instead, I would rather point out that I would rather be an 'army of one' and know at the end of my days I stood for something, and took the necessary risk to fight for those principles. Of course, I could have chosen to be an underachiever like yourself, and live with envy of those others that not only accomplished more in life, but also stood up for higher principle and honour. I realise that is all a bit over your head however....

Shep69 16th December 2017 01:50

Having integrity gives the blessing of being able to look back at your life without regrets; realizing you chose the right path at the time to follow. Money, status, fortune and fame come and go — but living with the guy or gal in the mirror lasts forever.

Trafalgar 16th December 2017 01:57

That's very well said Shep. Thank you. Every pilot in this airline has a decision to make: whether to stand up for something, or get down on their knees. One choice will always result in a better overall life experience. The other will ensure a life lived in fear and loathing. If we allow this company to continue unaffected through this holiday season, then please don't complain about management anymore. At that point, the only person you will need to blame is yourself. Every Captain at the very least should be demonstrating to this company that they have gone too far. Every FO and SO should be demonstrating to this company that they expect better conditions and a package that will allow them to settle in HK and live properly, comfortably and raise a family, as well as plan for retirement. If each of us takes action now, it will result in this management changing course. If not, then why on earth should they improve a single thing. In fact, it will encourage them to cut even further. There is no choice. Stand up for your profession or admit defeat and see any hopes of a proper career be crushed forever.

Hmmmm...

How do you think your contract is going to go with any significant deterioration with the Hong Kong legacy incumbents?

Doubt you'll be retiring to the south of France. More likely the southern Phillipines on a Cebu contract.

So who really has the last laugh? And who garners more respect here?

raven11 16th December 2017 01:59

a370....

Ha ha, you again?

So which are you? Manager stirring the pot; or bottom of the barrel, Cathay hating, “pilot” happy to be finally recruited by a low cost carrier in Hong Kong?

TurningFinalRWY36 16th December 2017 02:22

How can you expect FOs and SOs to do something when I have heard a captain saying he couldn't go sick for his next trip as he had things to do there.

Trafalgar 16th December 2017 02:46

Turningfinals. In every rank there are extremely weak and rather pathetic individuals. That does not excuse everyone else from doing what is right. This is a watershed moment that will decide whether any of you have a career worth the word. It doesn't matter what one weak and cowardly captain says or does. Just know that many of us are taking substantive action to defend all of us. I hope you will participate as well. Traf

Incidentally, I would prefer cebu to Toulouse, any day .
I don't think you would have the choice ?

Meanwhile down under a New Zealand labour hire company owned by Qantas is being rolled into Qantas's Australian operations. The move further undermines Australian terms and conditions. The lower NZ conditions will prevail.

'Consultation' will continue in the new year. Pilot 'representatives' are too busy placating their overlords.

Sources let slip that by the time the 'leaders' have digested their Christmas pudding, returned after their well earned break, consultations will recommence, however the model will already operating.

Australian exceptionalism at its best.

Wash, rinse and repeat...

cxorcist 18th December 2017 21:40

Sounds familiar. Sad, truly sad. Good thing they didn’t have to win any world wars by themselves. The world would probably look a lot different.

Gnadenburg 19th December 2017 13:36

Weird comments in any historical context.

BlunderBus 20th December 2017 23:52

How many level D non flying staff going home for Xmas ?

Tea time 21st December 2017 07:52

It’s going to be a December to remember , the Capts were screwed over with nothing more than a few posts on yammer and Prune

cxorcist 21st December 2017 16:09

Exactly! I’m off from flying for a month, but very few have joined me. Sad, just sad. The 89er and 49er syndromes still alive and well.
