Maintenance and Operations

Has anyone noticed how bad things have become with aircraft maintenance and the operations side of the airline? I mean it's pretty bad. They are not fixing the aircraft and lots of foul ups in operations, ie; Loadsheets, etc etc etc...There are a lot more AOG's now and a few diversions recently due aircraft maintenance. I've never seen it this bad. I think it's not just industrial, the whole operation is falling apart. I honestly do not believe anyone is either watching the store anymore or they have given up caring. It's honestly just awful going to work now. I think someone is going to get hurt out on the line.

As far as the industrial side of things go, it does not sound too good. I think we are past the point of no return. The damage is done and too deep and the company is hell bent on blaming us and coming after us. We can forget an agreed upon rostering practices and kiss HKPA good-bye. I think a big stick is about to be brought out. Yes, people will leave en-masse but as guys are finding out, they simply do not care. They will not capitulate to us.

Incident: Cathay B748 near Osaka on Apr 6th 2016, engine problem

By Simon Hradecky, created Wednesday, Apr 6th 2016 20:54Z, last updated Wednesday, Apr 6th 2016 20:54Z
A Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-800 freighter, registration B-LJG performing freight flight CX-92 from Hong Kong (China) to Anchorage,AK (USA), was enroute at FL310 about 120nm southwest of Osaka (Japan) when the crew received a low oil pressure indication for one of the engines (GEnx), descended the aircraft to FL280 and returned to Hong Kong for a safe landing on runway 07L about 3.5 hours later.

A replacement Boeing 747-800 registration B-LJL is estimated to reach Anchorage with a delay of 11 hours.

The airline confirmed an engine problem due to low oil pressure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 9 hours after landing.

Never fear, there is an operations enhancement project! Which looks to be a couple of blokes from IT and a dog.

there is an operations enhancement project!
If I know anything from the local lingo, I believe 'enhancement' means 'cost cutting' here.
