A350 for Gatwick
Cathay Pacific announced on Thursday that it will launch a new four-times-weekly service to London’s Gatwick Airport on 2 September 2016, subject to government approval. The new service will complement the airline’s current five-times-daily service to Heathrow Airport for a total of 39 flights a week between Hong Kong and London – more than any other carrier. In addition to serving London, Cathay Pacific also offers a four-times-weekly service between Hong Kong and Manchester in the United Kingdom.
Gatwick Airport is located south of London close to the town of Crawley in West Sussex. It is the second-largest international airport in the United Kingdom. The new service will provide passengers living in Greater London and the counties of Kent, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex and Hampshire a more convenient way to travel to Hong Kong and via the extensive hub to Asia and beyond. The Gatwick service will be operated by the new Airbus A350-900 aircraft featuring a refreshed Business Class cabin as well as new Premium Economy Class and Economy Class seats. Together with the premium service provided by Cathay Pacific’s cabin crew and a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system in all classes, passengers will be assured of the best inflight experience when they travel between Hong Kong and London. Chief Executive Ivan Chu said: “Cathay Pacific has been serving London for 35 years and our commitment to the UK market is very strong. We are delighted to launch a non-stop service to Gatwick, using our new state-of-the-art A350 aircraft, which will help meet increasing demand for both business and leisure travel between the Asia Pacific region and the UK. These additional flights to London will provide our passengers with greater choice and flexibility and, at the same time, continue to boost Hong Kong’s standing as an international aviation hub.” The flight schedule is as follows: Summer schedule in 2016 Flight no From To Departure/Arrival Days of operation CX349 HKG LGW 0055/0710 Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun CX344 LGW HKG 1235/0725+1 Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun Winter schedule in 2016 Flight no From To Departure/Arrival Days of operation CX349 HKG LGW 0055/0550 Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun CX344 LGW HKG 1135/0705+1 Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun Note: Flight numbers and schedules are subject to approval and may change without prior notice. |
Well the thing only has 1 crew rest seat, kinda gives it away.

3 men I bet |
What terminal? Hopefully not the Saarf. If that's the case, I dread to think what the Business Class lounge would be. Probably a Mcdonals or Harry Ramsden full of tracksuit wearing fat f###s on their way to Bendorm or the Costa Del Sewage.
Feel for the cabin crew on those 5 day layovers. Unless they recently opened up a Shopping Mall in Horley. |
Will it be stopping in BAH as the original did?

Expect the South Terminal as your Oneworld bruv is moving there next yr. the orange mob are moving all ops to North.
|
If it is A350 with an all HKG based crew, the duty period would make three man very tight given the flight timings. It would be an exhausting duty, especially for the RQ. ASR-F would be compulsory.
Is it true that A350 has only one bunk? I heard that but was told it was not true. |
2 Bunks but only 1 seat in the CRC. Not sure if seat is certified for TO/LNDG.
|
Oh Dear!
Welcome to the "New World". Deja Vu all over again. |
Seat not certified for to and landing:{
|
The SEAT in front of the 2 bunks is NOT certified for TO/LDG (not 16G etc).
It's basically a cushion with a lap strap. So jumpseaters can expect to be in the cockpit (if allowed on that route!) for TO/LDG. The good thing with 2 man is, Aussie flights will have two bunks available. :} |
|
So if it's crewed 4-man then that's no jump seat available then!
