Work in HK
Hi all,
Currently flying in the pacific, but want to move on , I will be in HK next week for a week and I am looking for some advice about who I should go and see there about finding work and what airlines doors I should knock on...? I have 1k+ hours on the 737 |
In the Pacific ey?
Nice Beaches, good weather, little pollution, nice natives and reasonably cheap cost of living...... Versus Hong Kong, Pollution Pollution and oh did I say Pollution? |
Just take a type on google "hong kong ugly" and see the keyword drop down suggestion box.

Maybe try using the aforementioned "Google" to search airlines in HK....
|
Just wondering Boeing. How long have you been with Airpac?
|
Stay in situ..check out Fiji Airlines or Mauritius if you want a change but here..it politically a complete mess..do yourself a favour, here the grass is not greener..its the air.....!
|
Air Pathetic
Heard there were 4 young ~1000hr 737 contract FOs recently terminated from FJ due to poor performance during line training...coincidence? :oh:
|
What nitpicker failed to mention was the pollution, which is really polluted, other than that, what he said :ok:
|
Flyer why dont you go back to where you come from? Oh you have no work down under, so you have to come HK to beg for a living. Stop moaning or go you ll feel better that way
|
None of the airlines based in HKG operate 737s. There might be a corporate one (or two) floating around but not sure if they are based in HKG.
|
ummmmmm wrong......quite a lot of Hong Kong Airlines/Express 737-800's based in HK and using B- registrations.....in fact an x CX mate has a command on one too.....he's based in HK and lives in Tung Chung...
( maybe the Airline isn't "based" in HK but the Aircraft and crew sure are ) |
There was only 1 actually and it certaintly was not me :D , none terminated at line training. ,

Yes I spoke to him about 1 month back, wasn't too happy with life and mentioned the A320 change over....
You telling me that since I've been away for 12 days all B registered 738's I saw in HK have gone?? |
You telling me that since I've been away for 12 days all B registered 738's I saw in HK have gone?? Me thinks you've been away for longer (mentally). :hmm: |
Mmmmmm
Hong Kong Airlines OWN website says they operate 6 Boeing 737-800's Hong Kong Airlines Fleet Whilst I admit to not having seen one recently or spoken to my friend it appears you "may" be wrong. Unless their own website is out of date?? Either way I'm looking at HKIA now and keeping an Eye out. :ok: |
That may be the case,
However, their own website also says, "Due to rapid expansion, we are looking for high caliber candidates to join our professional team." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAOOHOHOHOHOHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I rest my case Exxman XOP'S....The Only Way To Operate........ THE BIG PICTURE.....I have it, you don't. PAYCUT...... You have it, I dont............ |
HK leaving
Dear collegue,
Moving to HK.Do you have info on housing and kids school? thks GS |
I have no kids! , I really like the city would love to live here!
|
HK produces very little polution, just inherits a lot from Shenzen and other parts of China. I'm glad I moved back to Oz.

Actually after the first year or two, everything gets old. Drinking gets boring and you'd rather get out of Hong Kong or stay at home to avoid the hideous crowds. Be thankful that when you are a SO you can still have time to explore what tiny polluted HK has to offer, but when you are a FO, going to hello kitty city every other day just feel like an office job, with everyone dressed the same - same shirt, suit, dress, tie, hair, kitty nails, nothing special anymore. You get bored seeing the same kind of cakeface every single day. You stay in "motels" beside the airport, your body tired from all the sectors you have just did, you don't really want to spend an hour getting into city, just to start flying a few more hours later. End of the day, you just can't wait to go home and spend time with family than trying to figure out a lonely planet guidebook. :ugh:
If you have no family like you mentioned, then be sure you wouldn't even want to try to have one here in the future. Possibility of meeting a non-materialistic, non cakeface and nuturing woman is low. Not in Hong Kong. With cx, being a SO will simply be wasting your time but more money in your pocket in a short time. For career and family long term wise, THINK TWICE. := |
A short time in Wan Chai will leave them with more $$$ in their pockets than a long time....:E
