Around the world in five steps....

“Around the world in five easy steps” …… “a flight time limitation variation”………...
“I stand behind these patterns as long as they are flown as published”……. Is it just me, or is that code for “ we have to push things hard to pull this off! ” ? . Call me cynical but I’m not looking forward to how they roster this! I think the 400 guys should standby for a sh!t sandwich ( and not just the ones loaded by catering ex HKG ! ) :yuk:

Bring on that 777 course!

Night Watch 3rd April 2010 00:45

What are you talking about?

Care to enlighten those not on the 400 fleet?

buggaluggs 3rd April 2010 00:50

Beginning next month on the 400F.... HKG-ANC-ORD-AMS-DXB-HKG... Around the planet by 400 freighter!

Bob Hawke 3rd April 2010 01:41

Surely you jest! You missed AFD by two days!

Ex Cathedra 3rd April 2010 03:13

Oh, I get it now, the thing about us getting timely upgrades, bypass pay, profit shares and 13th month was an april's fool as well, right?

Tornado Ali 7th April 2010 15:37

....ooohhhhh, this sounds like fun...NOT.

s11max 9th April 2010 00:00

So when exactly is the first round the world extravaganza?

How much time off is there in each place?

Will there be time for fun and frivolity in DXB?

How many days does it take?

What will the roster patterns look like?

Enough crapola, does anyone have the facts?

747-8 9th April 2010 02:28

I'm told that SQ have been doing similar freighter patterns for years with some very good loads from the US into Europe. They take about 10 days over it but that includes an extra stop in Asia which CX don't need. Also SQ don't have based 400 crew so the same people do the whole pattern whereas CX have other options available.

Interestingly SQ also normally route the return NYC non stop flight across the Atlantic for a shorter flight time.

treboryelk 9th April 2010 02:33

something for those fast track and early freighter commands to enjoy for a few years i fear!

BillytheKid 9th April 2010 05:43

How can this be done and ready for next month's rosters if the RP has not been changed? What did I miss?

fire wall 9th April 2010 06:10

747-8
Sq patterns are similar, however they are scheduled for around 12-14 days.
Billy, the pattern will be subject to a variation on the existing RP's.

Ex Cathedra 9th April 2010 10:20
