Does confirmed mean that you just don't have to visit the standby counter and that the check in desk now has the job of telling you that you have missed out?

If it's confirmed you go straight to the Bussiness class check-in desk just like all other J class pax. Or alternatively check-in online 24 hours before and choose your seat early.

Unfortunately being "confirmed" still only leaves you as 1st standby, but at least they put you up in a hotel if they do bump you...although you will of course have to politely point this out to the staff who will deny all knowledge!

Or you get a US $10 lunch voucher because they bumped you to accomodate passengers on a later delayed flight.

So you get to sit around BKK for 6 1/2 hours and miss your onward connection because revenue passengers on a later flight can bump you off even after you checked in online and selected a seat.

My experience with FOC... a priority standby ticket at best.
