F/O or S/O?

i am thinking about applying to CX

could you guys and girls please tell me the main advantages / disadvantages of applying as a F/O vs a S/O (i meet the hr requirements for both)

Where do you want to live? You can take a local package as an F/O now in HK on the freighter or S/O expat package on the pax fleet, you can also live in various places in Europe and the US as a F/O could be pax could be freight depending on your right of abode.

Your choice then...SO in HK or FO in Europe. I would pass on the FO in HK. It's on local terms which means less benefits etc. and a freighter roster. SO roster is very easy with lots of time off or so I am told.

are freighter pilots on the same seniority list as the pax pilots?

Basic 1st yr DE F/O monthly salary in HK is $52,880 :yuk: after July 1, someone else will have to tell you the S/O package.

how about taxes
 

hi tread, i am also interested to apply for cathay next time and searching some info like do you know where your salary gets taxes if you live in EU for example.thanxs buddy

For comparison:

HK S/O, salary and housing allowance, you'll get about HKD$64K/month

F/O on base or HK freighter F/O do not get any housing
