Where is the B777 going next?

Does anyone know where the B777 is going next in NA? Are they doing LAX or SFO first? Also rumors about starting ORD service in 2009.

Good times coming for 777 crew

2009 winter schedule, LAX and SFO are certain for 777-367ER.

JNB and AKL are only worth mention to "wind-up" the yarpies and jaffas.

I hear that the 777ER performance leaves much to be desired with regard to the JNB summer time load capacity, even with the "bump-thrust" selection. But I heard that from a bus driver, so......

The India-HKG airspace agreements are going to have a huge impact on the 777 fleet in the next few months. The 773 cabin is a joke compared to the competition (Jet Airways), so expect the 330 and 744 to take over BOM very soon. If CX do not respond to the market standard on this route then within days, we will be flying empty.

Similarily, expect the HKG-BAH-RUH-HKG (the bastion of 772 operations) to go A330 within months. Apparently passenger complaints and wastage of premium pax is "through the roof".

Yet again, CX is years behind with the product, and only when market share is evapourating are they going to scramble to catch up.

This adds more complexity to the "loss of business opportunities" spin of the DFO with regard to the virtual crewing shortage.

So, if 772 comes off the BAH-RUH, and 773 comes off BKK-BOM-DXB, then we are left with a surplus of regional 777's, even with Colombo back on the schedule.

My guess, is overtime on the airbus will go up even more, and on the 777 will stay about the same (or hopefully a bit less).

Guess I am on the right fleet for once!

Actually YVR is happening before LAX and SFO. Expect YVR service to start in October of this year. Most of the YVR based crews already have conversion course dates for the 777.

I just checked the RTOW for JNB:

MTOW for 03L 30c is limited to 305.6 T for the ER. ( To Bump )

basic wt about 172
+ fuel to HK 110
+ PAX ( 236 ) 23.6
= 305.6 MTOW

This means about 236 pax and NO cargo.

If it's 15c in winter then it means the MTOW goes up to 321.5, so full pax and 9.5 T cargo.

MMMMMMMMMMMMM

Maybe a starter?

Where is the B777 going........

To the desert unless the financial markets sort themselves out........:sad::eek:

Silber...

Sounds reasonable...but I need more LHR's like another hole in the head!

Unlike most of the great unwashed, I didn't go onto the Bus when OZ closed out...guess I just have to live with it.

For those who think raising the retirement age will bugger their command prospects ... my advice is don't lose any sleep.

Actually what I heard was that CX888 is going to go to the 777 and run HKG-YVR-JFK-HKG with another running HKG-JFK-YVR-HKG.

Sucks as I was hoping to do a temp base on the -400 in YVR next winter.

Anyways, it's all conjecture until it really happens right? :)

How about those markets...don't think we'll see the planned increase in frequency to North America if there's more of todays news. OUCH!

Hi Silberfuchs

I was wondering how you know that the B777 is not going to SFO? Have you heard something different from a fleet forum or something? All other indications that I can see are that SFO is going to the B777.

Cheers:)

CX888/889 is already in the reservations systems as a 777 on a new timing schedule.

A340-313 18th March 2008 18:50

Any chance that 888 will be re-timed to depart HKG late evening, with the YVR-JFK sector being a red-eye? That way, 840 can turn around as 889, and 888 can turn around as 841. It would also spread out the 3 flights evenly throughout the day in either direction.

Kitsune 18th March 2008 19:34

No........

A340-313 20th March 2008 01:07

hah :p
current 888 is replaceable by 838 & 840
