Help! Waiting for Cathay (F/O)
 

Hi guys!!
I´ll send my CV to Cathay in a few days (F/O position); do you know how long I´ve to wait until getting some response from them? What comes after that? Thank you all!

Do yourself a favour don't send it... Apply elsewhere my recommendation

I applied about May 07 and got a phone call about 5 weeks later. I guess it depends though on your experience. Bare minimum vs more than minimum.

I applied back in 2005 and despite my CV being handed in personally by a CX Captain and 6 monthly updates I heard not a bean. At the time I had 4000hrs on modern glass cockpit aircraft (Airbus) and was keen to move onto bigger and better things. In the period of time from applying until January of this year I moved up to my 'bigger and better' aircraft and am very happy doing what I now do. So, when I had an invite for an interview in Jan, in London with CX,I declined due to a number of reasons, the main one being the huge pay cut I would suffer as a year 1 F/O.

The time delay didn't help in my case but I guess if they are getting short of crews then the time to interview may shorten correspondingly

Application response was two weeks.
 

Hi.

I received an invitation for an interview around two weeks after submitting my application online. TT 4000 with around 2000 wide body glass. Have absolutely no idea what to expect from the interview (any pointers?) The technical exam they mention??? What is of concern is the number of negative Cathay posts of late.

Cathay supposed to be one of the better airlines to work in; I don´t know what you mean answering that...
Anyway, I´ve 3000 hours of jet; what do you think if I send the cv to cathay? do you recommend me? (and why?)

Hey Canadair,

Like every airline in the world mate, there are problems, and yup CX has a bunch. However, saying that, it is a good airline. Keep your head down, do your work and get on with it.

Of course it is frustrating with management not giving pay rises etc. My big question to all who whinge and moan, is this...who would you fly for then?

Being Canadian, you can take a basing on the A340 in Vancouver or B777 in Toronto or you can come to HKG.

Your flight hours are fine for getting in. Go for it and make up your own mind about the company :ok:

I applied about half a year ago, and finally got "the call" here a few weeks ago. Going to London soon, and to be honest wiht you at first I was not too bothered about it because of all the negativity here, but figured I'd read up on the subjects anyway, just in case. As the time is closing in I'm actually getting quite excited about the prospect of moving on.
So my advice is, apply, go to the interview, and then make your mind up...
