Happy People

I am going to my Second Interview for the second time in January having not been successful the first time. I know a high percentage of people on this website are not happy. Can someone speak for the people that are actually happy at CX or if not why you stay. With over 2000 pilots and a recruiting system that is hard to get through, people must be staying long term and to stay long term you must be happy. Anyone?

Dude, I haven't started yet, but I have a lot of friends who are very happy there. I wouldn't take as gospel the views on this site without seeing for yourself.

I am happy (that I am not there ;-)) Kidding aside I am actually with KA and happy believe it or not ....

PS. Must be the magic mushrooms....

I am happy,

Good stable job, but there will always be some down sides in any company. I think the company is a pain in the arse but there's more to life than CX.
Try to live in a place where there is a mix of different people and professions this way you stay away from the bitter unhappy pilots who like nothing better than to moan and bitch(DB).

Life is what you make it.

I'm happy. I agree, life is what you make it.

Every airline has a proportion of dissatisfied crew members - it has always been so. However, many talk but few actually walk! Best advice I can give you after 37 years flying, is to go into the interview with a clear head and a determination to succeed and leave the rest until you qualify on line, then you can decide for yourself whether or not the views of others should influence you and your lifestyle. Rumours often wind people up and this profession seems to have more than its fair share! Best of luck next month - I've enjoyed my career very much.

You have asked a deeply probing question. It comes down to what we individually determine is happiness.

There is happiness at home, in the 'office', with career development etc. It is not appropriate to have a simplistic answer to such a question as "are you happy". Viktor Frankl found some sense of happiness in the most dire of circumstances in a nazi concentration camp...now I don't wish to suggest that things are that dire here at CX. Merely that some will find happiness no matter what the circumstances.

Maybe a better question would have been - "are you happy with how you are treated as a professional aviator at CX?" That might arouse more informational responses than a simple yes or no.

Expect to just be a 'cog' in the machine whilst here - nothing more and nothing less. That is the treatment from a corporate viewpoint. The actual coal face is far more personal and responsive - I would suggest that on the whole most guys are happy at the coal face. They are not happy with the professional aspect....upgrade 'hoops', moving goalposts for time to command, lack of corporate response to a deteriorating remunerative environment etc etc.

Happy with life - yes! Happy at the coal face - yes! Happy with how we are treated as professional aviators -?????? Not sure it is much different at other airlines...mates of mine in EK/QF seem to think things are bad all round.

If you don't have any equal or better options, take CX! You can always move on later...

I am happy...happy with life and happy with my job in the cockpit...I just don't like the CX Can-not attitude!

Someone else once said this...if you don't need anything then it's the best job going but if you are needy...this is one of the most frustrating airlines out there.:bored::ugh::(
