I'll preface this by stating that I appreciate the "A" scalers who have supported the association throughout its turbulent times...

It will indeed be very interesting to see how many "A" scalers who 1) previously resigned from the AOA and 2) are rapidly approaching age 55 rush to re-join the association in order to vote in favor of age 60.

These folks are most likely not concerned with substantial COS improvements for "B" scalers, rather they're simply hoping to extend their good deal. As such, the company will certainly offer age 60 only in conjunction with terms that are less favorable to "B" scalers interested in long term COS improvements.

Hahahaha! And if they're not successful with their request you will find them later anywhere with Atlas, Air Atlanta or any other time contract to feed their former three or more wives or simply to overcome their boredom!

Wake up at the back there. The discussion is now 65. Discrimination laws will override company agreements with the AOA. May as well negotiate a deal before the law forces the AOA to give away 65 with nothing in return.

Those same discrimination laws may also wash away the company’s attempt to pay pilots with CX less the day they turn 55. It works both ways.

Quite right 404 Titan. Current extendees not only get paid less, (in the case of A-scalers), but the company also ceases paying Provident Fund contributions. Furthermore, loss of licence insurance is withdrawn. Anti-discrimination laws should put an end to that.
It will be interesting to see if such laws can be applied to current extendees.
Uniform stores need to stock up on walking sticks, not to mention wheelbarrows in which A-scalers can carry their wallets, lest they suffer from a bad back.

Is the current final incremental pay year 17? There seems to be a perception among management (NR?) that this would not be increased if retirement was extended beyond 55. This would be a disgrace whereby guys would reach the final year before they retire and so end their final years on a fixed level. This has already been done with the Flight Engineers on the classic fleet and is a disgrace that should never be allowed to happen again.

Add in pension, loss of licence etc and there better be some hard negotiating done by the aoa. gggrrrrr!

I'd opt for the black stick with the gold wings!

Hang on, come to think of it, maybe the white stick would go better with the golden labrador?
