Air Purifiers
I have decided that it is time to invest in some cleaner air especially for my young kids. I have had a look around and seen all sorts of contraptions that will work miracles for my family but what I'd really like is to hear first hand what your experiences have been.
Does anybody have any recommendations for me? I have come across the name IQAir. Seems pricey compared to the others but I don't mind paying if it really is that good. I was thinking along the lines of running it in the lounge/family room area during the day and then putting it in the bedroom at night. Thanks W2 |
Thanks JM,
I called them up and they seem like a pretty professional outfit. Demo arranged - always nice to see how well something works before you spend those hard earned $$. :ok: W2 |
Jeesus, would you stop it!
How many other forums are there where they talk about air cleaners? There is no problem, things are great here in HKG. Salary is thru the roof, quality of life awesome, clean air, cheap veges, schooling great, rosters awesome, employee relations off the dial. Please people, enough with the -ive. |
Why bother with an air purifier when for a few months of the year the airconditioning pumps air straight in from the outside anyway.

Not all of them do, ie split systems and even the window mounted systems will recycle the air if you tell them too. |
Air purifiers.....hmmmm
I use ear plugs when walking around the 3rd floor in CX city and that works fine.... |
Air good
Yep got em in my flat too.
We seem to go 71/2 -8 months on jus the ceiling fans. Then occasional a/c use and then 2 months pretty serious a/c use. Our split a/c s have upgraded filters in them and they need regular cleaning so they might be doing something as well. Whether the a/c pumps it in, or it drifts in through the window, with an air purifier in the kids room at night we hoped that the air was a little better ! Anything is better than nothing. If the state of the filters was anything to go by they were working ! Cheers FG |
I really don't understand you people...............and what happens when your kids leave the house? Don't they sell a portable version? Is the money really worth it guys? :ugh:

We've got a unit from Airsopure.. not cheap at around 6500 but well worth it in my opinion...

H23,
Life is about compromise. Yes the pollution is a negative (he says while his kids are swimming in the back garden, on a stunning day with incredible viz) but have you ever lived in a safer place than HKG? Go back to the UK and enjoy the clean air and miserable weather. Just watch out when the terrorists decide to blow up the Underground! Unlikely? Perhaps, but you never know. It's the old two buckets story again. When the sh1t one fills up I'll leave (pollution falls in this bucket if you were in doubt) but at the moment the family is enjoying it too much to do so. AND no I am not a new joiner S/O. Been here since before the last pay rise! W2:ok: |
I'm happy that your happy. We never had a yard, I wonder whether that would have changed things?

Have you tried sleeping in one of those medical masks! I have seen lots of old people wearing them... they must work? :ouch:
