DEFO Pax AND RA60. I don't think that I'll ever get into the RHS let alone the left. Sigh...:uhoh:

RA60 is a real threat to career progression. Unless the expansion continues at the current pace for the next 10 years, it's probably safe to assume that command upgrades would be delayed by more or less 5 years once the expansion slows down.

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a large number of catB F/O that will eventually have their 2nd try at the upgrade (200?). Consequently, the time to a command course is already set to increase to more than the current 10 years for every F/O and S/O who are not expecting a course within the next 3 or so years.

For S/Os, DEFO and RA60 is a double whammy. All of this combined could push back commands to 15 years or more.

I hope someone will tell me that I'm wrong!:sad:

I don't get what you are trying to say. If someone is allowed to work till 60/65 on some base, and is employed by OABL/Veta/NZ??? that doesn't mean he/she will be able to work in HKG till 60/65. One of the biggest causes for throwing out court cases is jurisdictional issues. UK employment law has absolutely no jurisdictional power over HKG. If you move back to HKG you are subject to HKG rules which at the moment says you can work to 60(or 65?) but our HKG based contract says 55!

B cat FOs are senior to FOs currently being assessed. Put yourself in their shoes...wouldn't you feel that you deserve to be ahead of people that joined after you but were not adversely assessed? YOu have a DOJ and you are aware that everyone that joined before you is entitled to have a go at command before you.
Second point...DEFO affects your time to RHS but has no effect on your time to LHS(ie command). DOJ is everything...if a DEFO joins a day after you he/she will be offered command after you!

It seems fairly straightforward if the UK finds that age discrimination has occurred then they are re-instated with their original COS (obviously without the 55 retirement age) which says after 3 yrs on a base you can return to HKG:)

So it's not so bad!
 

No arguments with that at all.

So to recap:

DEFO will delay my move to the RHS.
RA60 will delay my move to the LHS.

Soooo where do I win again? (Not that I need to win everything of course, I understand that just taking part is enough in some circumstances. :hmm: )

About 20 C&T pilots so far. I have no problem with them accepting reduced benefits to stay...just don't complain about it!:bored:

A man used to vicissitudes is not easily dejected...would about sum up the Gang of 20.

Besides they have rationalised it as 'contributing' to C&T and hanging on to their 'status' in an environment they are familiar with.

Some of these guys should get a life, but as they never had one, they would not know where to start looking.

Stop clogging up the system for the younger folk and get out a bit. There are plenty of contract jobs out there these days if you really still need the ego trip or some pocket money.

Anyone with an ounce of bounce would try Japan, Korea or even India.

Worried DEFO's.......worried about never getting a command..................LEAVE.

The benefits are not that reduced at 55 for us "B" scalers.

It is easy to bitch about age 60 when you are in your 20s/30s. But when you get to 50+ as a "B" scaler it becomes a no brainer. Not enough to retire on = stay on!

The benifits for the younger guys come (rapidly!) with age. As soon as you get to the LHS you WILL change your mind. Unless, of course you have won the lottery!
