Any Recommendations?

I'm just wondering if there is anything anyone could recommend that a new-hire could do while waiting for his start date to prepare for Adelaide and/or his training in Hong Kong?

Do nothing. Just enjoy the time you have now as there is enough time during your time in Adelaide and once you arrive in HK to get everything done. Thats not to say you can be slack once on course but if you use your time wisely there is enough time to cover everything.

Good luck.:ok:

Go on a holiday.... Spend heaps of cash! You will need the time off to clear your brain, in preparation of all the info you will have to absorb in the first 6 months at CX. If you don't already have one, go and do you PADI open water (or advanced) diving certificate. You will have heaps of time off when you are checked to line, and the diving in the region is great.

Most important..... relax and don't think about flying, or you will burn out after a few months of training.

Congrats on getting in :ok:

I have a suggestion for you
UPS
FEDEX

If you hate CX that much then get a job back home:ok:

Very important recommendations that will serve you well for your career here.

Take one cricket bat, paint it in glue, roll the said bat in sand, the grainier the better. Let it dry. Buy a case of KY gel. No, disregard the KY gel.

Practice with the bat. Get accustomed to it.

Congrats on the new job. Just don’t mess up or you will find yourself at the wrong end of a “Termination Letter” or worse, no upgrade.

If you find yourself in a predicament, fall on your sword or beg for mercy.

One must never forget, Termination is the preferred method of discipline.

Welcome aboard.

sigh...

M.75 don't pay too much attention to the vocal minority. CX isn't perfect but what is? (FedEx and UPS come to think of it...). Saying that, it's pretty good, and I guarantee that you'll have a really good time as a SO, at least for the first couple of years. Hopefully you'll not be hanging around too long for a window seat.

There is almost nothing that you can do to prepare for ADL, except perhaps working on your socializing skills! Honestly, just look forward to it, and relish the experience. Getting your PADI out of the way is actually not a stupid idea. There is a lot a diving around here, but finding the time for doing your (Advanced) Open Water might be harder.

Enjoy ADL and welcome to the melting pot!
