Resign Seniority?
Does CX force new-hires to resign their seniority from their furloughed airlines?

Yes, they do ask. But you would be insane to do it. Can they enforce it? I don’t think so.

No, they don't. They ask you to bring a resignation letter to your first day of school, but they are not very familiar with the US furlough system. Cathay has never furloughed.
IMHO they are gonna be in for a big surprise if by any chance the big North American pay cut does get voted in. We have many many furloughees. :O |

Good call CPDude.
Cathay would be wise NOT to insist on any form of resignation from other seniority lists. This will encourage more furloughed pilots to apply, have a look at working in an expanding airline with more career options than anywhere. I also acknowledge the ridiculous command failure rates and the race to the bottom in pay and conditions. Personally, I joined with rights of re-employment elsewhere but chose to stay, it's still a good gig. I would never have tried Cathay without a safety net elsewhere. So YOU management halfwits, don't push people off their previous employment lists, let them fly and try, most will stay. There really is not much better out there! |
