747F Stab Tank
Does any one know why the 747F doesn't have a stab tank? Also does the 747BCF loose it's stab tank after the conversion?
Thanks, S.W. |
The stab tank is not necessary because the payload is more important than distance.

As airbus2boeing states, the 747-400F carries a much greater payload than the passenger version. With a payload of 128,000kgs and a ZFW of 288,000kgs, the MTOW is under 368,000kgs and so even the CWT is unused. You would need a payload of about 80,000kgs before a stab tank would be able to be used, and this is bleow the average freighter load (from my limited experience). Airclues |
I know that the BCF retains the stab tank vent, but I think the tank is capped of.
There are no stab transfer pump buttons on the overhead, and the fuel page synoptic does not show it as in the pax 400. |
