Dragonair and DPA

As president of the Dragonair Pilots Associtaion, I wish to advise readers of this forum that the DPA has reached agreement with Dragonair over the manning and conditions for MAN operations.

The recruitment ban, put in place by IFALPA, has been asked to be lifted.

All pilots are now welcome at Dragonair and the DPA invite new employees to become DPA members.

DPA President

Excuse me, captain, I don't get it! I followed the link and this is what I found:

3) In Dispute

The DPA regrets that it is now in dispute with the company over breach of contract
issues relating to the employment of direct entry captains on the B747.

4) Agreement

The DPA and Dragonair Management have reached agreement over the contract terms
and manning of the B747 operation to be based MAN.

A meeting was held for members to consider the proposal, and this was accepted.

The final agreement sees continuation of the current contract format, 'overtime' provisions and per diem allowances and gratuity. Profit share is included and additional for all employees.

New employees conditions have been improved, although this is not immediatley apparent.

Also of benefit to all are the continuation of 'standard practices' such as early leave.

HKALPA has been contacted and requested to remove the IFALPA recruitment ban.

All pilots are now welcome to join the DPA. The DPA provides free accident, legal and
loss of income insurances to members.

So what happened to the direct entry captain issue?

I have recently received an interview invitation for the 747 freighter.

The DPA web site will not open for me, granted I am no expert on this site.

Would someone be kind enough to pass on the latest re the 747 freighter;

* Are they using their converted 747-300's yet ?
* Salary package, allowances
* Slip pattern expectations
* Time to command, and will it be 747 or 330/320 ?

Appreciate any news here or via my email.

FO £45k, £2.60/hr allowances, 2-3 years to command (5000hrs min) 3 years on 747 then option to transfer Airbus. Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply 6 miles high.

Just another few quick questions;

* Will the command be on the 747 in 2-3 yrs ?

* How many hours away from base (MAN) do most of the pilots expect to work ? This of course leads to an attempt at approximating how much £'s you would make in allowances each month.

* Do most consider that tax would be under the UK or HKG system ?

Look forward to reply, thanks.
