CLK Inbound levels through MELON
Seeking crew views about the inbound levels through MELON for CLK arrivals. Was FL130 expect 8000ft by TD 07/25. Now FL130 expect 8000ft by TD 25 Now FL150 expect FL110 by TD 07 A) What is thought best higher for arrivals or arrivals down low early? B) If best higher would FL150-FL180 for both runways be acceptable? Thanks in advance. Turbot |
Higher is better, even the new levels are far too low.
Melon is 90nm from 07 and 70 nm from 25. Ideal levels are F230-240 @ MELON/MANGO for 07 and F180 for 25. The current grossly inefficient procedures put about 100 tonnes extra of burnt Jet fuel into HKG's atmosphere every day for no good reason (500 kg per flight 200+ movements perday) The extra fuel bill for CX is at least $50M HK per year for these two restrictions alone. Not only that if we weren't forced down low so early ATC wouldn't have to stop everyone's climb at low level on 07 Departures - bingo- less noise over the city. Cloud,
Thanks for your reply, I agree that the levels should be higher. Still open any other views. Turbot |
Yeh, Why do we have to be at the final approach speed at the final approach fix?
Because you have too! Why dont you just do a flapless approach every time to save fuel? Why not put the gear down at 300ft to save fuel! |
ess jay,
What is your point? I am really interested in different crew or atc views on this subject and more detail would help. Thanks Turbot |
turbot, don't get dragged into a conversation with sj, he's randomly hitting alltopics hoping to get a reaction. Just settle for all the normal replies.

Thanks for the advice.
I noticed some of the posts in other threads here. Do we know if essjay is an aviation professional Troll (worrying), or a common Troll that has stumbled out of usenet and is now lost? Turbot |
