CX110 was originally scheduled to depart at 0900 on Sunday, 19 November. No F/Os were available. Crew Control attempted to call all the F/Os and Captains in Oz. Some of them would have been illegal to operate the service. Others were promised Christmas off, or extra leave. None accepted. So an F/O was flown out of Hong Kong on the night of 18 November, but due to duty time limits could not operate the reciprocal service until half past midnight - past the curfew limit at Sydney airport. CX attempted to have the curfew restriction lifted, but no success.

The delayed service was finally scheduled to depart at 0700 on Monday 20 November, 22 hours late. The real fault here is that there are insufficient crew, and poor rostering of available crew, due to management ineptitude. I wonder what the passengers were told.

The knock-on effects would be important too. All the fleets are working to maximum capacity, so delays and cancellations can be expected elsewhere in the network from this.

It's only this sort of thing that management pay attention to. Unfortunately the travel plans of many passengers are disrupted and the airline loses heaps of money. Let's hope management offer a decent rostering package soon so we can end contract compliance and return things to normal. Our families deserve it and so do all our customers.

255 was cancelled on the Sun the 12th, NO Capt.

255 always seems cancelled these days.

I visited the operations center today in Hong Kong and saw a lot of red lines on the FOCC displays!

What a well managed airline...not!
