CX B777-9 delivery pushed back to "beyond 2025"
 
Also confirmed by CX in the middle of today's "jobs lost, KA scrapped" announcement: Cathay Pacific Boeing 777-9 deliveries pushed back to "beyond 2025"


In an update today, Cathay Pacific Group Chairman Patrick Healy revealed "the delivery of the 777-9 fleet has been postponed beyond 2025".

Btw ACMS....he's not wrong...it is a white elephant at this point. The 787 seems to be the sweet spot going forward (or A350).

The 777 especially the ER has been a huge success for Boeing for the last 15 years....very popular and the Airlines loved it to replace the older 744’s and A340’s. When the passengers return and they will, the 777-9 will also be a success. It’s not Boeing’s fault the Chinese flu came along now. For now though I agree that the 350 787 are the Aircraft to have.

The B777 - 9 would have been very well positioned to replace the A380 and B747 if COVID had not occurred. Now these types are being retired and there is currently no need for a similarly sized aircraft for the next few years. The B777 - 9 will have its time, but that will be in the middle to next half of this decade.

Get used to A320/1s being operated to the limit of their range with B787s on the longer runs and A350s on premium routes for the foreseeable future.
