possible major delay on monday 5/8

There WILL be a city-cross strike on Monday, Local ATC has indicated the possibility of that on local forums, cabin crew sickout likely to happen again like in June when over thousands of them called in sick on one day... 85% of MTR drivers jointly signed a petition if there was no response from the company re Yuen Long incident then escalation is likely... Civil Servants are having a 'get together' in a couple of days to demand response..... Bus drivers are going to drive nice and slow for the day..... Medical staff including allied health staff have indicated the possibility of strike/sickout as well

HKCTU, of which the AOA is a member, has indicated 26 membership unions will participate on Monday..... the local internet forums have voiced their need of the support from pilots in this, just the locals aren't going to make HK come to a grinding halt.....

One pilot has been arrested according to UK News. Not sure if the pilot is CX - didn't say.

Recommend you brush up on your TIBA procedures.

TIBA Suzie?

How come nobody wants to address the PLA troops massing at the border? I’m not saying they are coming as it’s very likely intended to intimidate, but this is a BIG deal. HK could very well be the next Tiananmen Square sooner or later. Ostrich Syndrome?

Nothings going to happen, it’s all fear mongering. There’s already PLA troops stationed in Hong Kong and they haven’t batted an eyelid.
Give it 2 months and once the kids have gone back to university it’ll be back to normal. As usual a storm in a teacup.

This little arsehole apparently threw acid and concrete at the cops. Should get get his just rewards....like 10 years free board and lodging in a PLA accommodation establishment.

weren't you throwing flames at the police too?

Tembani. Why don't you just wait for the FACTS to come out first, you vicious little . Or shall we just immediately believe what this oh so credible government tells us?

Hugo Peroni the V 4th Aug 2019 16:53

Time for the Hong Kong pilot community do the right thing! Tomorrow we will see the true nature of the pilots that choose to make Hong Kong home. Sadly, most will just do their best to help work through tomorrow rather than stand shoulder to shoulder as we should.

What do you suppose we do. We have no guidance from union. Politically motivated strikes give you absolutely no protection. They only estimated 14000 will actually strike. I know people that have been given a day off tomorrow by their bosses. I don't think we have been afforded that luxury and it is hardly strike action when your boss says it's ok.

Hugo Peroni the V 4th Aug 2019 17:02

How do you manage to choose which pants to put on without being told by the AOA? That must be a daily challenge. Stop hiding behind the union and decide for yourself.

Is it really so difficult to simply call in sick for the day? Or do you need your "mommy" (AOA) to hold your hand?

TurningFinalRWY36 5th Aug 2019 02:24

calling in sick is not the same as striking, they are fundamentally different with different consequences

Dan Winterland 5th Aug 2019 09:06

The Trade's Union Ordinance defines a strike as stoppage of work because of a grievance with one's employer. No mention of a grievance with the Government. Anyone taking the day off without a sick note is opening themselves up for disciplinary action.

OK4Wire 5th Aug 2019 12:44

Seriously, Dan?

Allow me to draft a piece of legislation that will cover you for absence whilst undertaking a revolution. I wonder if the Tea Partiers got a sick note?

Thomas Jefferson: “Where the people fear the government, you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty.”

wow this just gets better, CAAC banning any CX crew who support the protest to even over fly.....
