SAS strike

SAS last night cancelled nearly 700 hundred flights as 95% of it's pilots walked out on strike. They are demanding a 13% annual pay increase and 1 in 4 weekends free of duty. The SAS Board of directors has been ordered to settle by shareholder groups.

My thoughts exactly. Their union reps are very pro-active and work for their members not themselves.

Yeah and not to mention first World labor laws helping them.......

you'll have to wait until HK joins the modern World....

Exactly. SAS didn't terminate those crews failing to show at despatch friday morning. Of course not.

Those pilots have nothing to fear but the economics of the dance. No grudges, secrets lists, personal vandettas or internal fractioning to worry about.

Hong Kong is a whole other ballgame.

There could still be 'grudges -secret lists -personal vendettas etc' except for the fact that SAS pilots stick together. If one guy gets heat from the company for being on strike, every one of his colleagues will stand behind him and not return to work until he is in the clear.. THATS how grudges and company vendettas don't work in SAS. Its not all, labor laws protecting the guys. It's UNITY, pure and simple.

I understand the HKAOA has yet to send a letter of support to the SAS Pilot's Union. If I remember correctly back in the 49'ers day they sent us a message within 24 hours stating their support.

Going on strike has very little to do with labour laws . It’s unity ( us not me ) What exactly would Cathay do if everyone walked off the job and no one was prepared to return if anyone was fired . They would be negotiating a new contract pretty darn quickly . Sadly however there are too many ‘what about me ‘ pilots to do anything constructive so we live with the status quo
