EK to offer jobs to HKA pilots
In a recent letter to all crew, but specifically aimed at A330 crews, the HKA GMO stated that due to the reduction in the A330 fleet , he was pleased to announce that Emirates airline would be offering those pilots affected, direct entry positions A380 with EK. HKA are expected to reduct their A330 fleet size by around 10 aircraft, potentially around 80 pilots. A classic case of From the frying pan to the oven |
Meanwhile CX is flying a bunch of flights for KA next month due to A330 pilot shortage. Things getting worse??
|
You'd think the HKA pilots would prefer to go across to CX or KA rather than EK. Are things that bad at CX?
|
Yes, without a doubt!!

Why would you give up your command for a humiliating D scale contract as a First Officer? You may never get it back. And F/O's coming across? Perhaps? But again, time to command could be never! |
How many philippino pilots do KA have ? How many South American pilots do KA have ? How many none caucasian Flight ops managers do KA have ? Exactly . If you are outside the colonial demographic, no chance at KA. Employment probability is very low. . And just how many COS18 none local pilots have KA managed to recruit over the last 4 months? Zero. Sweet F#%% all . |
Feel sorry for all the HKA FO's who invested years patiently awaiting their Command at HKA.
It looks like the guys who jumped to EK etc back in 2012/13 made a wise move. They must all be A380 Captains by now. |

Lower the standards you could have a training department trying to train for expansion, whilst training for attrition and now additionally burdened by trying to maintain the safety standards of the 5th percentile of your pilot group. That's terminal. |
