The winners and losers.. CX pay increase for dedicated players.

I guess CX doesnt appreciate the dedication of some family members. The 6inch blade between the shoulder blades. Maybe paying the FAU to argue your case would get a better result, they seem good at getting results everytime.

All this means is that if they’ve been stealing from you for long enough, they are going to give a little bit of it back. Most others get a mere inflationary adjustment, except the pilots, most of whom haven’t had their pay increased for inflation in years, and most of those are not on an expat package.

Same old, same old from the Swire Swine. They stuff their coffers in the UK with fuel hedging “losses”, take massive amounts of cash (many billions USD) off the CX balance sheet, and cry poor to their staff for concessions. If you think it any other way, then the joke is on you.

For anybody who might have been sitting on the fence, this announcement should show every pilot where they stand with this Management. NO.

Kranz 6th Dec 2018 20:39

The company said the arrangement was done “in appreciation of [the staff’s] dedication and contribution”.
By virtue of the fact that pilots are explicitly excluded, does this effectively state that CX believes pilots are not dedicated and do not contribute? Harsh.

Is there any other way to read it? Honest question.

I don't think there is... it just seems like such a blatant kick in the teeth from management towards a single class of operations within their business that I fail to understand how it remains a going concern. If I ran a business like that I would be shocked if all my staff didn't all walk out in protest and never return - not just those that are being shafted.

Its basically like Oprah yelling to the whole crowd "you get a prize, you get a prize, you get a prize... oh but you [single person in the audience], get nothing"

Farman Biplane 7th Dec 2018 01:01

Do not stress!

We will get our 3% rise just like all of the other valuable employees, however the pilots need to pay for it by dropping the CC/TA campaign, agreeing to be industrially disarmed forever and of course accepting a “small” productivity increase.

Or, you could just vote NO to whatever bull**** deal the HKAOA is dressing up for the company!

Liam Gallagher 7th Dec 2018 02:28

Nothing on Intracx about any payrises...... Be a giggle if this report is of the same quality as the SCMP's recent report about the HKAOA and management reaching a peace deal.

I wonder if there are some really "interesting" meetings going on in Pacific Place this morning:)

Air Profit 7th Dec 2018 02:56

Haha...company message. And WE are the ones who have to sit through CRM every year. You couldn't write a story like this if you were Stephen King !

Shutterbug 7th Dec 2018 04:00

The FAU are prepared to throw down, and have. Repeatedly.

AOA are owned by CX. Not rocket science.

TurningFinalRWY36 7th Dec 2018 04:13

So in just over a week the FAU concluded their negotiations, we take years to achieve pretty much nothing. It shows just how effective the FAU is and how bad the AOA is at representing its members

petrichor 7th Dec 2018 04:35

Why on earth would you think that they would gift us a pay rise whilst negotiations are ongoing?? That would be strategically ludicrous and akin to us stating in writing that we would work G days so let's not get too flustered just yet - we just got a 13th month so let's focus on that positive while it lasts.

Tea time 7th Dec 2018 07:29

No let’s focus upon the fact that everyone else gets a pay rise . Yet one very important group of employees who contribute as much if not more to the success of the company have been excluded . I have said time and again that sometimes you have to fight for what is rightfully yours . Sadly though the pilots as a group have been intimidated into believing that they can never win . I cannot tell you what a seismic shock would go through the boardroom if the pilots announced that from tomorrow they were no longer going to work . Your pay rise would be deliver faster than a happy meal .
You cannot be replaced in the short term , there are simply not enough qualified pilots around any more but sadly we as a group have become so cowered that we will moan and groan about this but still operate and even worse extend and work on GDOs .
i give up , we should have gone out years ago and we wouldn’t be in this situation now but until we as a group grow a backbone and defend our COS they will continue to be eroded

It's all over, summon the fat lady. Dss has sold out every one of you.

Flying Clog 7th Dec 2018 16:42

Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic just announced their striking from 22-25 December. Good on those lads. Fat chance of us having the cajones to do the same, but I can dream...

turnandburn 7th Dec 2018 20:59

Arapa another 9 years and its done. Terminated in 2017 as that was 15, 10 added to that. Hence the 9 year extension from Jan 1, taking it to 25 years. Extended the scheme, but not on a per person basis. You had access to it, and if you didnt use it to bad.

jetjockey696 9th Dec 2018 07:23

I think CX is the most reliable carrier to travel over any holidays. Pilots never strike or utter the unprofessional word 'strike', flight attendants always end with a nice settlement... until the next big holiday.. Chinese new year,.because need money for angpow.
