and again...

Good on the cadets for taking some initiative and writing a letter. It's more than can be said for the union.

I wonder how long these cadets will stay at Cathay?

This folks is how you create a airline who trains it's competitors pilots. Bravo. 👏👏👏

Just a bit of good ol' "CX Good Will" for the freshly hatched BRUSHWINGERS. Let's them know what the next 25 years will be like.
The one thing you absolutely DO know 100% for sure, the newly anointed (Time To Win (for them)) DFO & GMF "WILL" get significantly bigger bonuses (their "cut" of the savings) at the end of the year for this contemptible act.

#CXit Run, don't walk.

Time To Run.

It’s probably good the fledging Brushwingers get their early Masters Degree in how this place works before they lose a significant amount of their life to the place.

"GMF Peter Clemmow"; Like father like son.

Tea time 23rd Oct 2018 23:51

Raptor I have to agree, initially I thought that he was somewhat different, but he is becoming more like his father everyday ,
I don’t know how these people continue to work in management whilst breaking contracts and promises. Do they have no morality at all ? I know stupid question ! That lot on the 3rd floor are totally devoid of any human decency

bm330 24th Oct 2018 00:07

The time when anyone on the third floor actually made any decisions has long past. Mere placeholders and puppets with strings straight to the ninth floor.

Slasher1 24th Oct 2018 00:51

All's I can say after the multitude of warnings over the last few years from just about everyone associated with this place to anyone who joins or considers joining for any reason (or naively believes any promise about contract, basings, or anything else):

People will join CX trust me - I have friends on the way after my advice.
CX wins again - until they leave that is

GMF - The man who retained a management position after shagging an S/Os wife. And people actually converse with this oxygen thief.

....your friends are on their way after your advice. Hmmm, you can count on them not staying your friends for much longer then. Hopefully they won't get trampled by the ones heading out the door in the other direction...

he spends more time organising diversity and inclusivity lectures to mix with unconscious bias training. Perhaps he thinks this new moral compass will compensate behaving like an arse along with the jellyfish towards the cadets.

Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (the “Company”) has discovered unauthorised access to some of its passenger data and that of its wholly owned subsidiary, Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Limited. The Company is aware that the passenger data of approximately 9.4 million people has been accessed. The Company has no evidence that any personal information has been misused. The information systems affected were separate from the Company’s flight operations systems. There is no impact on flight safety. The Company initially discovered suspicious activity on its network in March 2018. Upon discovery, the Company took immediate action to contain the event, to commence a thorough investigation with the assistance of a leading cybersecurity firm, and to further strengthen its information system security measures. Unauthorised access to certain personal data was confirmed in early May 2018. Since that time, analysis of the data has continued in order to identify affected individuals and to determine whether the data at issue could be reconstructed. The types of personal data accessed were the names of passengers, their nationalities, dates of birth, telephone numbers, email, physical addresses, passport numbers, identity card numbers, frequent flyer programme membership numbers, customer service remarks and historical travel information. In addition, 403 expired credit card numbers and 27 credit card numbers with no CVV were accessed. The information accessed varies between passengers. No travel or loyalty profiles were accessed in full. No passwords were compromised. Approximately 860,000 passport numbers and approximately 245,000 Hong Kong identity card numbers were accessed.

Discovered in March. Announced in the middle of the night 8 months later with the CEOs name attached. This will be a test of his leadership skills . So far they have been found wanting revealing him to be just another seat warmer with no substantial ability to communicate a corporate direction or vision or ability to engage staff.
This will be a total PR disaster for Cathay thanks to their institutionalised penny pinching leaving them with a compromised IT system. No amount of spin is going to pass this off as just one of those things that happen. Leaders get out in front and lead from the front. Eight months, really.

Leading cyber security firm?

Must have been ' Wung Fah Golden Wheel Computer Solutions' based in New Territories, Hk.

And then used his managerial position to call the husband in and threaten him with the sack until the husband told him he would cut his balls off and PC backed down.

Of course it was the pilot's fault. Everything in CX is.

the he man has no balls … he’s a weasel. He still managed to slither his way up to GMF position. He would never have gotten away with it in a real airline
