43 in one day
Yesterday there were 43 resignations. 3 months notice means all 43 will be employed 31 Dec to qualify for 13th month and any profit sharing for the year 2018

What on earth are you talking about...?

How do you know this figure is accurate, anyone can get on here and spout anything
|
It was mentioned at a recent Fleet Forum so I hear
|
Seriously doubt managers would be telling guys in a fleet forum how many resignations are occurring, someone is just winding you up
|
Maybe the numbers were off, but I personally know of 8 FOs who were waiting for October to resign, exactly for the reasons highlighted by unitedabx.
Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if they're actually correct. |
I would love to believe that 43 pilots resigned in early October to preserve any year end bonuses, but I seriously doubt it's true. However, speaking of bonuses, Reuters reporting today that one of our competitors, FEDEX, Is offering pilots approaching retirement bonuses of $40k (and up to $100k) to remain over the Christmas period. It seems FEDEX believes Santa's sleigh is going to be full of high yielding presents and chucking the reindeers a few extra carrots makes good business sense. Speaking of good business sense, in the land of Kempis, pilots on COS99 approaching retirement will be shown the door or offered POS18 and a hefty paycut. Over in the land of Rupert, the oil hedge unwinds just as oil goes through the hedge price of $85. Those Ice Pirates whinging on the forums need to join the dots and figure out where the Company's soft underbelly lies. It seems to me the Ice Pirates wield a fair bit of leverage at the moment. The question is, are they galvanised enough to flex a bit of muscle without the Union(s) holding their hands?? |

43? This is a big win for the management. HUGE. Those 43 will be replaced by COS18 joiners on a much lower package thus reducing the cost base of the Flight Ops by a significant amount. TTW. |
The funny thing is Ken, I can almost picture our managers around a conference table actually convincing themselves of exactly what you've stated. That is how far this company has fallen. Time To Leave.
|
I've concluded that our fuel hedgers are geniuses also. They have somehow managed to pull off the almost impossible task of managing to keep our fuel price at $85, right up to the date when the ACTUAL price of oil passes that price. It's like they have their own version of "stabilized approach criteria". We just never appreciated how smart they, and the entire management team really are. I stand in awe.

The figures are accurate. The company system promulgates messages to a number of departments when a resignation or retirement is announced. One of those departments is uniform stores who are tasked with collecting old uniforms. Ask any of the guys behind the counter to show you the list and with two clicks there it is. Names,DOJ and more importantly DOR. It ain't rocket science. 43

So you mean to say that if you hand in your (3 months?) notice of resignation at CX you still get paid the “13th month”, as long as you time it right? How generous! Just FYI, HKA cancels any such payment at the instant you give notice. which also explains why many give none and just walk. |

Flew with an FO last week who is leaving aviation all together, going to the insurance industry. Well done CX, completely killed the joy of flying in another individual.

HKA and 3 Months

A number of these I expect will be going to South Pacific Airways as nearly all of their recruitment is from CX and KA. If they're not, the company can expect another exodus.
|
Does anyone have any details of South Pacific Airways? Thanks.

It is actually somewhat weird to be part of and at the same time observe a once truly respected airline implode before one's eyes. Not through market forces, world economic collapse or bad even luck but by sheer ineptitude or even worse by deliberate malicious tactics in which case perhaps self immolation might be more accurate. Actually on quick re-read that latter statement is an insult to those who carried out that act as a statement of protest for the greater good, generally.
