CX Pilots get 20% for their retirement P-fund contribution by the company; while Cabin Crew Only get 10%! Many Cabin Crew will retire broke and poor! CX helps the rich Pilots get richer while the poor Cabin Crew are just ignored! Many Cabin Crew are too short sighted to see this and are even concerned about why level-D Captains don't get their 13th Month ex-gratia bonus. Don't be silly Cabin Crew - you should be more worried about your own future than Pilots who earn more than $100K per month. It has nothing got to do with respect , principle or all those poetic words - it's one word : MONEY!

Post 2)
"Recently there’s a thread on Yammer that has gone viral – a bunch of our pilots gone crazy about the company not awarding 13th month bonus to employees who are level D +
Let’s just say, looking at the annual report, it seems a majority of our Captains are probably getting salary of min 1M+ if not up to the 5M range (around 2,500+ flight crews in this range). This is back in 2015 so could be even higher now.
My question/comment is,

1. There’s a lot of level D, level E and our executives without this 13th month bonus, who have at least 2 times more work due to restructure and less headcounts. They haven’t been complaining about not getting bonuses. Are you being too big about yourself that you feel that this is pure discrimmination against the pilot group? When the company went through restructure, firing 900 colleagues, I didn’t hear you say there were discrimination against the pilot group.

2. According to the 2016 annual report, Tom, our director, gets around 6M of compensation, which I have to say, is not very far from our top paying pilots. Back in 2015, he was only getting 1.9M – when there were 1,583 flight crews getting 2M+… maybe the level D pilots who are complaining can shed light on your actual salary + allowance package please?

3. With a salary of around 1M+ a year, you are complaining about not getting a bonus to the extend that the level A/B/C should get less? The current cap is at 35k and you want that to decrease so that you get your extra bonus? If I had your salary of 1-2M, I am fine with giving up a bonus of 35k! Are you not also neglecting the importance of all the level A/B/C? Plus, after restructure, your job nature remains the same. You have minimal impact when compared to office staff. Do not use your previledged salary and compensation to complain against the rest of the folks. It is as though the king is complaining about not getting his caviar for dinner when there’s beggars on the street begging for their lives. Just pathetic.

4. Our captains, are supposed to be our leaders – the most senior person of the ship. Can you not show some leadership, like many of the office level D staff have shown and accept that you do not get a bonus this year? Do you not think after going through restructure it is hard enough for the office level Ds and they need compensation too? But hey they are not complaining, and I know for the reason that they know how difficult the company situation is indeed is. No one wants to make a loss and everyone is working hard to turn this over. If you are not able to stick through during the hard time and give up your bonus of 35k capped, then obviously all you are here is for the money so stop saying how you have stuck through with the company in the past many years.

crazy cc for sure.

Shot Nancy 16th Dec 2017 13:26

Yes, yes. I feel your pain.
1. How many dollars/time/hours do CC commit to training versus pilots?
2. Just turn up to work with no pilots and see what happens.
3. I have many flying hours without CC.

BlunderBus 16th Dec 2017 13:52

I appreciate all our great cc do for and with us. We’re lucky to have you.
Contracts are meant to be honored and all I personally want is for this company to keep it’s word for everyone.

You know, it might grind my gears that some sports figures, singers, actors, hedge fund managers, middle managers, and politicians make more in one year than I’ll see in several lifetimes — while having questionable social value. Maybe even negative societal value. While working less to boot.

Then again a store cashier, construction worker (road or building) or Subway restaurant worker probably toils more than I.

And a Detroit cop gets shot at more than I do.

This is life, and when one makes career choices one finds a job that one likes and pays enough.

Our profession demands training, skill, responsibility, and judgment. And it takes a long time to get there with a very lean apprenticeship period. It can be ended in a minute with lapse of judgment or if ill health strikes. Pay varies with the platform and carrier. Again just the way life is.

If you look at where we base and what we do, almost every other flag carrier pays more — and many are more accommodating in terms of schedule and being commuter friendly. So we are lagging the market for a comparative task in a comparable place. Simple as that.

It does no good to attempt to divide a work force up really for anyone. And most pilots are, have been, and will be supportive of cabin crew in all endeavors. So I think there is a bond of brothers and sisters there and whatever this is it’s well outside the norm.

that is so obvious a management plot. Those sitting upstairs always worries cockpit and cabin crew would join hands and go against them.
Divide and Conquer is their only strategy to avoid such thing from happening.
With the joy of having the 13th month paying to them, which one of them would waste time in finding and digging into the annual report to find how much Tom earn instead of going for xmas shopping.
Start a fight with cc, that's what those upstairs would love to see.

Trafalgar 17th Dec 2017 15:29

I don't believe for one moment that was written by a cabin crew. I have complete confidence that a management cretin put that together. Divide and conquer, all they know. Has always worked in the past, but suddenly the sands have shifted under their feet and that strategy suddenly seems inadequate. Resignations increasing by the week. That is the only fact that anyone needs to focus on. In the meantime, ignore the usual rubbish emanating from the management offices.

Basil 19th Dec 2017 15:35

Correct me if I'm wrong but ISTR that only the CX CC have actually gone on strike; in 1993.

wongsuzie 19th Dec 2017 19:41

I recall that time.

A lot of friendships ended that day.

Trafalgar 19th Dec 2017 20:42

...why would 'friendships end'...? The cabin crew stood together and forced CX to capitulate. I can't believe that was anything other than a positive for the CC. A lesson my fellow pilots need to wise up to.

BlunderBus 19th Dec 2017 21:44

They were the only ones who stood up for and got their statutory holiday pay too. This union has been totally emasculated by chicken**** members

Trafalgar 19th Dec 2017 21:51

Blunderbus you are sadly right. I feel a certain amount of loathing when i'm in dispatch and see many of my colleagues who I know have not the slightest bit of backbone. AT is happy to take advantage of such people, to the detriment of those of us who are fighting for our profession. You all know which side of character you reside, and if it's what i've just described, shame on you. Ultimately, this airline will be represented by people of courage and character, or spinelessness and weakness. Which one describes you? The coming weeks will determine that.

Frogman1484 19th Dec 2017 22:17

It’s funny how the latest Parrot rant has the same figures as the “cabin crew” post🤔

raven11 19th Dec 2017 22:59

It’s not funny, it’s sad. The GMA’s letter to the AOA is a rewrite, virtually word for word, of his update to crew three weeks ago....

It’s like he hasn’t read the 700 posts on the yammer thread.

:ugh:

I agree with a poster on another thread...walk away for now.

Trafalgar 19th Dec 2017 23:06

The simple REALITY is this: CX management is not interested in negotiating. The ONLY thing that will influence them is action. If we do not commit to said action, then you can be CERTAIN of the outcome. With action, we retake the initiative and put the management on the back foot. Doing nothing will only ensure the worst outcome. Action will at least give us all the chance of a different outcome. There is no other option. A million words on Yammer won't outweigh one good week of volatility in the sickness rate. We have to disrupt the operation over the holiday period, inviting pressure from the public and HK Govt. Everyone knows what they have to do. Do it.

Trafalgar 20th Dec 2017 00:36

Wow. You sir missed your calling. Epic, and completely on point.

Trafalgar 20th Dec 2017 00:39

To my fellow Captains (and any junior crew who want an actual career). WAKE UP and fight for your careers and conditions. If you don't do so now, you will have the career you deserve. As CR just pointed out, this is a cynical grab for your pay and benefits...and why? Because our management think we are weak and spineless. So, the solution is simple: prove to them in devastating fashion that we are anything but. Take action now before it is too late.

Sea Eggs 20th Dec 2017 01:16

Would this ever happen at CX?

checklistcomplete 20th Dec 2017 02:32

Traf

Here Here

Basil 20th Dec 2017 09:36

Sea Eggs, OTOH there was 'Empty chairs . . . . '
Then there's 'Who dares . . . '

Decisions for you youngsters to take; good luck!
