Your miserable life, courtesy of the 'caring company'. Welcome to life as a CX pilot. Living in a shoebox miles from anywhere. Your wife will leave you within 6 months.

Doesn't say much for the wife if that's the case

This, as I've said many times before, is the elephant in the room. Mean Housing policies made by Senior Managers on huge rent allowances demonstrate yet another disconnect between Executives and the rest of the Company.
Housing, Travel and Education allowances used to be called an "Expat Package". Without any Expat Package only Hong Kong locals will stay. |

Hey baby, but I get to fly shiny jets. That should be enough for you. I dont want to hear how Elizabeths kids are all happy and healthy. None of this talk of grassy yards and a garage to park our cars. We have the train, bus and our feet. Its says more about the person who would do this to their family. |
No, it says more about the management of a company that pretends that the only individuals deserving of proper housing are their own executives. Most of the pilots have figured out that leaving is the best strategy. Nothing offered in HK is worth the risk to your health, that of your family and the certainty of losing your place on a proper seniority list with a proper airline. The statistics will reveal the truth. Awaiting the SCMP article that finally dissects the failed corporate strategy of the Swire's, the lowering of experience and safety standards, and the coming failure of the airline. That day is coming. In the meantime, AT can figure out how to fly airplanes without pilots.
|
Your right it says much about the Swires and how they view the hired help. No doubt they miss the days where they could just force you to work. But the pilots are to blame too. This is what happens after a decade of no backbone. You get no respect.
I am ashamed of this group. I include myself too. We should have gone nuclear at the moment our contract was threatened. Like many with CX. I have no future with this lot. I will be departing in due time. That fortunately is still a alternative in this day. |
They should be panicking. They managed us all right into this crisis with their fuel hedges and inattention. Now that the pilots aren’t helping them out of it, they have very hard choices to make. None give them what they want, which are plentiful pilot ranks at cheap prices. The globally high demand for pilots is quite timely for us. Stay the course!
|
You are correct. We would go down as the biggest fools in aviation if we were to agree ANY concessions in an industry that is experiencing record profits, record growth and record INCREASES to pay and benefit packages. Tell the management NO on every level. They are playing a great game of bluff, and they think we will blink first. That isn't going to happen. We insist on proper pay, proper housing, proper medical, proper retirement. Otherwise, shut the airline down. If they try intimidation and threat, then we shut the airline down, through illness and contempt. If they don't value me, they will not get anything of value from me. The aircraft can sit cold, dead and lifeless on the ramp.

I heard the president is resigning from training? Is that the nuclear option?
|
The AOA has had it's face slapped and rightly so. Too little too late and the management know it. Time for a vote of no confidence in the president and GC and the election of a war cabinet.

“We weren’t too fussed about the political aspects of the campaign...what we did know was that we could influence our own survival “
....Sir Jeremy Reilly on four tours in Northern Ireland in the ‘70’s |
What  stupid trainer said that ? There are some completely self serving morons in their ranks. Most are good people. If they attack housing , then we will quickly find out who is who. Many of my colleagues have told me they will resign. I believe them.
|
A reply from a not so Junior Ka Skip said those words tonight... "We are over the b/s. 15 of us are happy to walk tomorrow if the threat becomes real. Bring on the cleaner air". Not a threat at all in my opinion. Just blatant fact.
Depends on the bigger picture I guess. Huge short term pain for.... Well, you work it out. |
“Hongkongers are estimated to see a 4 per cent salary increase next year – the same increment for the third year in a row.” Big fat ZERO for us over 3 years.

I have it on good authority that many more are planning on doing so if the company announces cuts in any area of compensation. I am encouraging all of them to do so at that time if necessary.
|
So true, and yet so elusive for the “best and brightest” amongst us, our beloved trainers. Wake the  up and smell the coffee geniuses!
|
Not trolling here, but you can have a nice flat in DB sea view for about 26000 hkd. Not looking so bad to me.
Central yes I agree, but then again, try Knightsbridge. |
$26000/mo. So only 2.6 times the pitiful allowance that is currently paid (before tax). And you think that is sustainable? I would call your comment trolling...
