JCR Agreement - Just Vote "NO" as a protest

I am voting “No” to the JCR Agreement as a “protest” vote to get the attention of both the GC and the Company. I urge you to do likewise.

Both the management and the GC are ignoring the HK based pilots and treating us with a fair degree of arrogance. Even if voted through, the Agreement doesn’t take effect for well over a year so there is plenty of time for it to presented again when an effort has been made to appease a fairly p!ssed off HK membership.

If it’s never presented again, what have I lost? Return to Gate…. big deal…. Besides, it seems all the Unions have to get the same sh:mad:t deal and this is catering to the based unions, so we get the deal whether we vote for it or not.

What do I mean by ignoring us and arrogance?

• The new GC- who are you? I know you are busy, but a introductory message would have been nice explaining why you are negotiating concessions to my COS, when I voted for you to get improvements :(
• The SS/WFS debate. The GC surveyed us and then it seems some communication error between the Company/HKAOA/Jeppesen meant it was always going to be WFS, despite the fact the survey said we wanted SS;- just not good enough!
• It seems all the unions get equal voice. So HKAOA with 2000+ members has the same voice as Canada who is 1/20th in size. The based unions out vote us 4 to 1. That’s not democracy, it’s boll:(cks!

GC - If you want my vote, you’ve gotta earn it. This falls well short. I suggest both the GC and Company go away, have a think, and then try again.

JCR Agreement, put me down as “No” – do likewise and send a message.

I voted no because in a sick indirect way, it endorses what Management did in ripping up RPs.

AOA and domestic abuse comes to mind- CX sends the punches, AOA still wants to come back for more talks....

You lost me after your first sentence. This kind of angry brain dead decision making is a big part of why we are where we are today.

“despite the fact the survey said we wanted SS“

Well that’s completely false you using Anna’s statistical methods?? Well over 60% vote for some sort of fair share system basically anything but SS.

Just to be clear the survey didn’t pass muster in my mind as once again not enough people participated. However if you going to use it please don’t be like Donald Trump or Anna.

Curtain Rod,

You are missing the point.

It doesn't matter whether this passes or not. We get what the Bases want, that's the governing factor. The Based Unions are in the process of ratifying this piece of crap. We get it whether we want it or not.

I spoke to a GC member and they are relying on First World Labor laws to enforce this deal. They don't trust the Company to honour this or anything else. I didn't have the heart to tell him that the US CBA only lasts until Sept 2019. I think the Canadian one expires at about the same time.

Curtain Rod... To quote you "I don't care" and I will vote to record my protest. I no longer care what agreement the HKAOA and Company strike, because one or other has no intention of honouring any Agreement the moment it gets inconvenient. I thought I had 15.5% P'Fund , pay increments, HDP/EFP scales, all contractually agreed in my COS. The DFO has emailed us all and says she's discussing with the HKAOA reducing our contractually agreed terms. So what's the point in having an agreement?

Clearly, my vote doesn't count, your vote doesn't count, agreements don't count, so I will cast my vote as a protest. I won't rubberstamp this non sense, at least that makes me feel ever so slightly happier when handing over my 1.25% to the HKAOA.

I am sure all you lemmings will dutifully cast your vote and then be shocked when the CMP arrives and looks vastly different to what you voted for.

A bit of protest voting might make both sides realise that, "the troops are revolting". Haha..

Curtain Rod said "THEY don't care". And they don't. About anything except their bonus.

It's not personal, it's bu$ine$$.
1. Treat them like they treat you.
2. Don't fall in love with the company. They don't know you exist. At best, you're an irritation.
3. Come to work sober, do your "thing", go home.
4. The job doesn't define you.
5. Come to terms with the inescapable fact that you are a commodity. Whoever pays you the most, gets your attention.
6. Plan ahead. If all of this has caught you flat-footed, let it be a lesson.

Liam

You do not understand how US law works. Even though the CBA has an expiry date, the CBA will stay in effect until a new CBA is negotiated and ratified. The terms of the CBA can not be changed without being ratified by the USAOA membership.

Just like most of our colleagues who only care about themselves

Thank you to the 54% of members who decided to vote. Thanks.
Amazing that 46% of the membership have no regard for the way they will be rostered for the rest of their lives. Like it or not, just vote FFS.
What hope do we have against this regime when nobody can be bothered.

Trafalgar 6th Oct 2017 11:36

Really. Only 54% voted on such a crucial issue. Lights out. Find a new career.

betpump5 6th Oct 2017 14:25

54% of members voting is still higher than those that bothered to sign DLC's letter

Dragon69 7th Oct 2017 00:18

Even though I supported DLC's letter, I can understand why so many didn't bother. Many are fed up with this passive approach and response for decades. What is the letter really going to achieve? As if it hasn't been done previously with absolutely zero effect. It may give us the warm fuzzy feeling for a little while, but it's always business as usual at CX. Trainers won't resign, and it will be a handful that will protest by calling in sick. I used to think that at some point in my time with CX I would see a full blown industrial showdown, but seeing the lack of response to the recent termination of ARAPA by many, I am now not so sure if that will ever happen. In the end it will be resignations and lack of recruits that will bring about change.

XFR8 7th Oct 2017 00:37

I suspect that a very large number of people are planning on leaving in the short to medium term and so have no interest in the roster/ housing etc.

morningcoffee 7th Oct 2017 22:35

Not sure how you can take such a crap voting turnout as a sign of unity. If anything it shows that we are heading into "every man for himself" territory.

Again.

Trafalgar 8th Oct 2017 03:06

A colleague flew to SFO last week (....or maybe the week before ;-), and both US based FO’s we’re leaving ASAP. One had three offers, the other two. Told him that not a single American will be left in the company by next summer. Also , FAA and US Govt are about to approve hiring of overseas nationals. Kiss your workforce goodbye Anna.

Trafalgar 8th Oct 2017 03:15

Oh, Anna. Might be worth pointing out that nearly all of your ‘vagabonds’ (pilots who can only stay at CX because they don’t have any other choice, according to your immoral and cynical opinion ) will all leave when this is approved. Within the next 12-18 months by all accounts. The retirements in the US industry will prove catastrophic and that is why the industry and government are going to approve. This info from the most impeccable source. I will enjoy watching the panic set in on the 9th floor.

Trafalgar 8th Oct 2017 03:24

Anna. Another point made by the US FO. He stated that at the peak, CX had approx over 250 American pilots. Very soon that will be close to “0”. That equates to close to a loss of almost 10% of your pilot force. Further, they were nearly all highly experienced. Of course, you’ve replaced them with “0” time cadets. I’m sure the HK press will be interested in this fact. At what point do you start traveling on another airline? (...well, at least your toyboy, don’t want to lose him do you ?)

Start Fore 8th Oct 2017 05:43

Toyboy? I thought she drank from the furry cup?

(Not that there's anything wrong with that of course)
