Aviation Herald has a bit more detail - seems like a clearance misunderstanding involving the taxiing plane, but on the info thus far I can't sort it out clearly. Cargo Global plane seems to be given a clearance that implies crossing the active runway - but never assume:

Incident: Cargo Global B744 at Hong Kong on Sep 22nd 2017, runway incursion forces rejected takeoff

Listen to the tapes. Sounds like ground control is giving instructions without looking out the window. Such practice always ends in disaster.

Couple it with the practice of turning on all external lights when taking the runway, which is common place here in HKG.

Also, why not install red holding bars at J6? The other entrances have them. I'm guessing this will put an end to crossing at J6.
