Training Plan

Not sure how it makes sense that JFO upgrade courses are being planned and rostered when 70+ guys are about to be transferred to the freighter

It's called training capacity. They have it on the 777, less so on the 747. It's the same capacity that would have been used for a JFK base, but that has been delayed indefinitely due to "unforeseen circumstances" in the USA.

theCOMEDIAN 20th Sep 2017 03:22

Fleet forum last week said it was only 25 FOs going to the freighter. Not sure where you got your 70+ from

Avinthenews 20th Sep 2017 04:06

The freighter positions was a total scam to get people to "volunteer" to go to the bus, the freighter is well over crewed.

It worked :} apparently the Airbus now has all the 777 volunteers it needs!

Why would they have to scare people to volenteer? They were clear about it that if they did not get enough volunteers they would just use reverse seniority?

Plan? There's a 'plan' at CX? If you call a rudderless, sinking ship a plan, then ok, there's a plan.

Sometimes I wonder if working for the communists would have been better. At least they always had a 5 year plan.

Bottom line is that the training ban is not working ( not the way we want ).

Having just read 1984, that is hilarious. Everyone miserable except leader.

They are waiting on CAD to sign off on new 777/747 conversion courses. With the latest NTC for transfers from 777 to 747, and 777 to Airbus, there will be a follow on one from 747 to 777/Airbus (for HKG based crew only).

The new course will be a "short" course from 777 to 747, and will enable a 2 week short course from 747 back to 777 if done within 4 years of leaving the 777 (the 777 rating will still be valid, recency just needs to be regained). They can then rotate pilots through the 747 efficiently. Significant cost savings are anticipated through reduction in EFP on the 777.

The 777/A330 will be used to train new DEFOs, 777/A350 new SOs. Pilots of all ranks will be moved off the 777 to the 747/Airbus (NTC or promotion).

This will be a significant cost saving measure as the pilots who join come from the 747 have lower annual flying hours and can be used more productively than 777 pilots sitting at 900 hours. EFP will reduce as a result of the anticipated strong uptake of the 777 positions from the senior 747 pilots with more CNs coming from the 747 than being transferred back due to the current excess on the 747.

The illusion of thinking we have some control over our lives :}

Otherwise the low hour 747 onto the 777 pilots will be on high EFP as well after one year or so.

Frank,
I believe the part of the plan is to have training captains dual rated...they will be able to fly both types on one roster.

Frank that might not be as far fetched as you think. The A330 and A340 were not common type ratings either. Over the years many people lost either their A330 or A340 recency and took next to nothing to get current again. Most of the times I did it it was 3 landings in the sim with a sim instructor, could be done in 30 minutes without a training captain.

So In summary.
Their are too many 777 TC's .
This could all be stopped if some of them had an inch of a BALL.
Frankly some of these guys disgust me. Pathethic in the highest order.

'An inch of ball'.

Well you have to understand that it depends on one's perspective:
The Fleet Office furnishes New TC's with 'Teste Calibrators'. These are used 20-30cm away.
There are staged upgrades: STC: Sizeable Teste Calibrators, for closer examination 10-15cm, and:
BTC: Big Teste Calibrator. This is for intimate macro work. Less than 3cm focal field. Amazing detail.

Uberskyjockey 23rd Sep 2017 03:44

Training Ban !!

October roster shows an STC upgrade course for 4 TC's all Airbus and all AOA members.
Go figure.

Sqwak7700 23rd Sep 2017 04:09

Training plan? Hahaha. That is a luxury at CPA they can't afford.

Here's a copy of the training plan:

1. Aim extinguisher at base of fire and move in sweeping motion.
2. Repeat indefinitely.

On the Airbus to get the additional type rating credit was given from the A330 towards the A340. I guess what they are saying is that for pilots that are not 747 rated a course which gives credit from the 777 to the 747 is being approved.

It would be two different ratings, many 777 pilots I guess would already be 747 rated so it would be easy to get the back up to speed.

GTC58 25th Sep 2017 03:23

The new training plan for 2018 has 300 new SO courses and 8 JFO upgrades company wide. An indication that the company is planning more flights with 2 SO Crew compliment then initially indicated.

Uberskyjockey; what code do you search for?

It says "can not". You are not eligible for transfer since you are fleighter pirate.
