So what is the real story?

Freehills 18th Dec 2016 11:44

Another operator that has realized the bloated carcass of CX is worth feasting on?

Bob Hawke 18th Dec 2016 12:55

It's being properly managed. Take from that, what you will.

Dan Winterland 18th Dec 2016 13:33

There's no money in freight.

gofor 18th Dec 2016 16:54

It is happening (A330-200f) - some top ex CX guys there too!

DropKnee 18th Dec 2016 19:02

No no, not top X CX guys. It will just be a matter of time before the airline is fubar with crazy checking standards that are always moving. Yikes!!!!

cxorcist 19th Dec 2016 00:09

Hong Kong Cargo... just in time for a trade war between the US and China; and in the South China Sea, the increasing probability of China learning the hard way about US naval power.

Farman Biplane 19th Dec 2016 01:58

Finally someone to offload the 747 freighter fleet to!
Perhaps we could sell them a cargo terminal as well?

Avinthenews 19th Dec 2016 02:29

Apparently Manchester freight guys are free in Feb.

Fly747 19th Dec 2016 03:21

Correct. Free to transfer to the pax fleet and take their LHR 777 command.

The Visionary 19th Dec 2016 17:28

Um, Hong Kong Cargo is a mess right now and I, for one, would not take them too seriously.

cxorcist 20th Dec 2016 16:52

777 commands for guys with seniority from July 2008?

Something tells me that won't be happening.

Fly747 20th Dec 2016 23:37

Seniority is not the only consideration with based pilots.

cxorcist 21st Dec 2016 00:23

That's true, but nearly every FO in LHR is senior to the KA 747 CNs in MAN. You think senior LHR crew are going to jerk gear for junior captains on the pax fleet? I don't. It happens on the freighter, but that system is dying on the vine and will be rectified over the next decade.

If July 2008 hires are in the 777 left seat out of LHR, CXC will be burnt to the ground.

Fly747 21st Dec 2016 02:36

Some joined the Cathay Group in the early to mid 90s as evidenced by their ST and paypoint DoJ.

MENELAUS 21st Dec 2016 03:49

Doesn't matter a f+ck. They've benefited from early commands, basing lifestyles, and are junior to any number of f/o's in LHR. If they want a pax command, come to Hong Kong, bid in seniority for a pax base again, and join the frigging queue.

cxorcist 21st Dec 2016 04:45

You're dreaming 747. No chance. Not a snowflakes in hell. If you're holding out hope for that, it's going to be a long wait. The PM herself couldn't make that happen. Trust me, they're toast. It's return to HK on local terms until command seniority or, at best, downgrade to FO on the 777. Time to start sucking eggs. CX group my arse. Does that mean any CX pilot with a few years seniority can walk over to KA and take a command? Nope, wake up! Your fantasies aren't doing anyone any good. Least of all... you!

Fly747 21st Dec 2016 07:08

There is already talk of Pacific pilots being offered a move across to Dragon to solve the looming CN shortage there and to get more CNs trained for the Group. It would be an extension of the current Pacific FO upgrade program being done at Dragon. Better than DEC for them I would suggest as they can eventually move back to Pacific.
BTW all MAN based ex Dragon freight pilots can move to HKG on full expat B with housing etc.

McNugget 21st Dec 2016 07:52

Because we at CX have such a surplus of commanders...

MENELAUS 21st Dec 2016 08:11

Yes they're welcome back to HK, on full housing and benefits...and on the freighter...
