Unless you are <500 in the seniority list I wouldn't worry about it.

Progress Wanchai 2nd Dec 2016 03:45

Surely CX management wouldn't be so cynical to re-open basis in the same week as they announce no 13th month due to managements poor financial decisions.

Surely they wouldn't take a contracted benefit away from us for 6 years (bases), then effectively sell it back to us by taking away another contracted benefit (13th month).

Surely they don't think they can pacify 2,000 pilots by awarding 5 pilots a base.

Surely....

Oz 777 I've heard.
Wrong! Check your company emails.

Bases released on crew direct

ACMS 3rd Dec 2016 04:58

I don't mean to crow but I have said many times CX would open bases in Oz again.

About bloody time though.......

ACMS 3rd Dec 2016 23:12

Anotherday....

I said CX would eventually open bases up again in Australia and they HAVE. Sorry to have to tell you but Perth is in Australia mate.

I don't care why they did, it obviously makes commercial and financial sense to do it and the LSL doesn't out weigh the cost saving.....obviously it doesn't because all the slots for CAPT and FO ( 10 ) will go to very senior crew and they will all have a fairly large LSL entitlement on day 1.
So they could have closed the base and crewed it out of HKG easily, BUT THEY DIDN'T did they.

They will open other ports as well soon, it will happen.

You read it here first......

Oh and there is no need to call the HK crew "princesses", cheap nasty petty stupid comment.

Captain Dart 3rd Dec 2016 23:19

Anotherday, a little jealous, perhaps? And rumour has it that the purveyors of the new rostering system have asked 'management' why there are not a lot more bases.

X from Princess Dart. My carriage awaits.

Not entirely true, CR. Bases are only truly efficient when there are symmetric (even numbers) crew to operate in and out. You can't just blend HK and based crews. At some point, there needs to be a positioning sector to balance things out. Also, there are sometimes excessively long layovers to accommodate crew on bases or by based crew in HK. This all costs money and is inherently inefficient. Don't even get me started on the YVR and MAN freighter bases. Those are a joke and would not exist anywhere but CX.

The Company isn't just throwing out numbers from a game of darts when they put out this bid. They are trying to get bases to a minimum crewing level to be efficient when the Jeppessen system starts building patterns. The best computer program in the world can't make 1+2=4.

I seriously hope this fool /\ isn't left alone in a cockpit.

Flex88 4th Dec 2016 16:38

PER FO Slots

Rumour has it that no FO,s will be awarded PER base so don,t get your nickers in a knot in anticipation. Perhaps even on the other bases as well !!
Why you ask, because TC,s, STC,s & BTC's (some extremely high on seniority list) "ALL" are checked out in the RHS and MANY very near to saying sionara who would have no problem "downgrading" to FO for their last few years. Specifically those Ausies who would get most of the first year off re LSL + normal leave. .

And the show begins

Check the award very carefully !!!!!!!!!!

There is no provision in the COS to downgrade . It has been done in the past but they were 7 ASL pilots and since then (2002?) the provision has not existed so unfortunately Flex your post is unsupported.

Anotherday, had your forbearers had the good sense to flog a loaf of bread (or a bag of nails as is my case) and been interned in Van Diemen's land then I suspect your line may have been different. Your term "princesses" for those adhering to the law betrays you. Surely you have something of more substance to offer.

It's also explicitly prohibited in the NTC.

OK4Wire 4th Dec 2016 19:51

Anotherday,

I think that you will find that in these "tough financial times", the company is not paying out LSL.

If you have LSL, you have to take it.

Hugo Peroni the IV 5th Dec 2016 00:09

I think, if you read the words, flex88 is saying they would happily operate from the RHS when required....not a rank downgrade but in essence a downgrade from their usual seat for that rostered flight.

'Certain simple eligibility filters are included in the Crew Direct bidding system. However more complex eligibility criteria are yet to be included in the system, thus a bid being accepted by the system does not guarantee that the bid is eligible'............I would suggest we are about to be outsmarted again as little that happens these days does not come with a direct attack on contact compliance and the training ban.

TurningFinalRWY36 5th Dec 2016 01:37

Did they not just offer Perth base another day?

OK4Wire 5th Dec 2016 02:59

Not according to Anotherday!
