13th Month
Yay or Nay?

Not Specific enough. You are on the FH forum. Which company are you asking about? I know what the answer is for HDA!
|
Foolish question in the extreme. The company knows we are expecting the 13th month on merit. To give any other answer other than a demand for our rightful payment is playing right into their attempt at expectation management. Every CX employee insists on their rightful payment. End of.
|
absolutely we will get it, all employees deserve it. Cathay is still making money!
If for some reason we were not to receive it the company should have notified well in advance, many rely on it for tax purposes |
Agree TurningFinal.
The few times they haven't paid it, the staff have been told before now (i.e. late November) |
At KA it's contractual so they will be paid 13th month as they should. Hard not to pay it at CX now that we are all one big happy...
If they don't pay it or cap it to screw over the higher paid employees, I suspect the roster will be extremely unstable for the next few months. Just an observation. |
Quite simple, most of us will simply even the slate....... Skiing in February suits me in that case. I suggest the rest of you start planning your own compensatory months off.
|
Yeah, stop training our cheap replacements and contributing to the downward spiral of our salaries and conditions.
I suggest that you start planning your resignation from your voluntary training position instead. |
I suspect CX is in dire fear of some significant whinging from the pilot group if the 13th month is not paid out.

I'm sure they're very afraid of the letter they would receive if they didn't pay it. However, relax. They will. |
Ivan and his Fuel Hedgers should pay the 13th month out of their (deep) pockets. That'd larn 'em!!
|
is that a new CX emo band?
Ivan and the Fuel Hedgers? |
I never thought I would say it, I did not think it was possible. THANK YOU CX.
I guess they are looking to turn a corner with staff relations. Funny how everyone was spreading the doom and gloom and it has actually gone a bit the other way. 125% of a months salary paid along with Dec pay. Hot of the press on intracx! AWESOME!!! |
Joe,
Why did you even bother writing that? There's nothing on intracx. |
It's the first of December, not the first of April brah!!!

Expectation Management
You have to give it to CX, they're experts at dirty mindf*cking.
Step 1: fabricate and spread a rumor about the 13th Month not being paid. Step 2: Do not say anything to let the nervousness and concern simmer a bit. Step 3: Pay the 13th Month. Step 4: Watch as a relieved group of employees has subtly but suddenly accepted the fact that the 13th Month card can and will be used against them when needed. If only they applied as much astuteness in running the business as they did trying to screw their employees, they'd be making billions instead of losing them on stupid bets. |
It was 'Gerry and the Pacemakers' in the early nineties (no kidding, it was a headline in the AOA 'Flyleaf').
And we know how that turned out, don't we. |
Refer company internal website.
Case closed, phew! /Thread |
End thread?
Did you read the last paragraph of that You know, the one that says: "We broke the company. You fix it. Or else...". |
Doesn't take a genius to realise we are heading for a loss this year - take a look a % revenue decline on IntraCX on a regular basis and it's clear to see. The fact that the 13th month is being paid surprises me to an extent. I for one am delighted - it's not - and has never been - an entitlement; it has always been discretionary. Changes are afoot I'd say, and for good reason (given current state). Am personally grateful for the 13th month. If you recall, we didn't get it in full in 2008.
