Lufthansa Flights Disrupted by Pilot Strike - WSJ

el commandante 25th Nov 2016 14:49

No, we are not!
We fight the fair war and take it upon ourselves to accept delays in promotion and reduced salary increments to show management that our good will is worth a lot. We don't fight for our own benefits on the cost of our customers.
We can be proud of that we still value our company we work for and honour that our passengers get what they pay for.
What Lufthansa pilots are doing is just arrogant and unfair to their customers.
Sorry, no understanding for that.

Arewerunning 25th Nov 2016 15:05

@el commandante

you should shut up when you do not have a clue of what you are talking about...

el commandante 25th Nov 2016 15:18

Sorry, yes - I keep it shut. I don't know anything about that.

asianeagle 25th Nov 2016 16:00

@ el commandte so you'd be lead company negotiator at Lufty then?? You doing a great job, keep it up!

ACMS 25th Nov 2016 23:08

Sometimes in first World countries the only option left after all other reasonable options have been exhausted is to STRIKE.

Back into your box.

Trafalgar 26th Nov 2016 01:27

Well, considering how badly CX management has been able to reduce the career value of a pilot at this airline, you can hardly blame the Lufthansa pilots for fighting tooth and nail to preserve the value of their jobs. Shame we didn't do much the same when we first came under attack....

el commandante 26th Nov 2016 02:21

Did they ever try all reasonable options first?
I agree if everything is exhausted then you should have the right to strike. But did they? Inform yourself.

Trafalgar 26th Nov 2016 03:39

No El C. Of course they didn't. They just wanted to hurt the airline they work for because they are angry, and didn't give a moments thought to what they were doing. They are little boys who are throwing their toys out of the cot. There, feel better now? Perhaps you should ask yourselves what they are fighting against, why and what's at sake? There is a reason that pilots in a major airline should be paid and treated a certain way. It's called professional pride and dignity. Something that was lost here a long time ago, and mainly because we allowed
CX to reduce us to sniveling wimps who seem happy to live two-up in shoe boxes, broke and miserable. They just don't want to join us in our misery.

el commandante 26th Nov 2016 04:26

Do you really think I agree with what is the LH management is trying to do with their pilots' contract?
Do you think I'm not on the side with what LH pilots are fighting for?
What I'm saying is that we in CX fight a more honorable fight which costs ourselves a lot and not necessarily our customers. LH pilots never went down this route, they went straight to strike.
Also showing that goodwill goes a long way and a motivated workforce is worth a lot is easier to be demonstrated with a 'work to rule' campaign then with a simple strike which actually doesn't demonstrate anything. Just inflicts bad press and hate from the public.

goathead 26th Nov 2016 06:04

Oooh ! and dont you find it funny their has been no tweet about it !
A tweet about the pilot shortage ? but no tweet about a huge strike!
Mmmmm

el commandante 26th Nov 2016 06:55

There is nothing wrong with what they fight for.
It's how they fight it.
You said it yourself, they went on strike for 14 times over the last couple of years. Not very clever I say. If they would have used other methods first, the strike now would be much more effective.
Now LH pilots lost the support of the public, but when they went on strike for the first time that wasn't the case. In fact most people supported them.
Its hard to fight the bourgeoisie when the proletariat sees you as part of them. And then making the public even more angry doesn't help your case.
Its easy for the management now.

DropKnee 26th Nov 2016 17:39

Don't care if the public supports my cause or not. Most of the public is ignorant to my needs. Just as I am to what a plumbers needs might be. Wise up!

el commandante 27th Nov 2016 01:00

Who buys the ticket again?

sergiokl 27th Nov 2016 05:23

El C.... do you really think they like the idea of going on strike?? They are at least a group of people who stand up against greedy management and shareholders who just want to gain more profits on the back of the work force... El C maybe you go and talk to someone in LH and ask them what management took away from them just overnight because THEY CAN!! What is so good about the way you fight for your rights?? At least I can see a group of pilots who stand united!!

Pain 5th Dec 2016 00:10

LH is on strike (almost) once a month. That says something. If you were a passenger would you buy tickets for your family vacation on LH. Not likely.

These strikes must have an impact on LH's bottom line. Yet on strike again and management has not given in?! The pilots are "protecting" their interest. However, it appears LH management believes the airline can not "afford" to accommodate the pilot's demands.

sergiokl 5th Dec 2016 01:28

Well! Let's face it... The management is killing the brand.. bought all various airlines to get cheap workforce... established Eurowings trying bases in Austria and so on and so on...

DropKnee 5th Dec 2016 04:21

My experience with the elitist who call themselves managers has been. They will spend millions to not have to pay you a nickle more. Plus I have learned from my observations of CX. They continue to waste millions reinventing the wheel. They than have the nerve to come to me with their pockets turned out claiming poor.😤

OK4Wire 5th Dec 2016 07:17

It's hard to disagree with you, DK, but I which red are you currently drinking?

Landflap 5th Dec 2016 09:42

"I which red" ?? Looks like you already are.
