CeXit

With the pound down at 1980s levels and no chance for industrial peace at CX, do the old school Brits take their money and retire back home? I know I would, but I do not define myself by being a Cathay Captain.

Average Fool 24th Jun 2016 20:52

The smart ones will.

The sooner anyone can retire from this place the better.

It might be a good day to change your chips into Sterlings. What remains to be seen is the long term trend. It will make up some of its losses past the initial shock, but I wouldn't be too rosy about the currency's future.

It's suddenly a lot more cash now, but the question is, how far will that cash get you in the UK 10 years down the line?
I suspect inflation is not going to be kind on the ex-EU Kingdom.

cxorcist 26th Jun 2016 03:27

All the more reason to retire now.

Threethirty 26th Jun 2016 03:52

The EU will flounder on the rocks, so no the pound won't stay low for long.

Good luck with that.

I find it morally reprehensible that you appear to relish the thought of someone being penniless.
You define schadenfreude.
Shame on you.

The Visionary 26th Jun 2016 08:09

Anotherday, what do you mean exactly? Honest question. I have a lot of money in that damn thing. Are you saying they will just take it? That would be a big mistake on their part to do that to me I can tell you.

The Visionary,

Is your Prov fund an independent, individual account with your name, and only your name, on it ? Or is it a promise to pay from the pot o'gold at the end of the rainbow...someday ?

BillytheKid 27th Jun 2016 00:35

CXorcist-

Departugal was hilarious! Well played Sir.

The Visionary 27th Jun 2016 09:53

Yes, money put into an account with my name on it. This includes adding into at 5 or 10%. I think they would have a hard time keeping that money and NOT giving it to the employee, even in Hong Kong. Now if we were to go on strike, that is another kettle of fish. Also, keep in mind, that a number of people within the past years have been able to cash out of it. So, I do not believe that you are right about this but thanks for the false alarm.

The PF is separate from CX but it is controlled by a Swire owned trustee company... The trust document is at BSC if you want to read it, and you are entitled to..

bafanguy 28th Jun 2016 12:56

Well, just on general principles you'd want maximum distance between the company and YOUR pot of money. Trust no one...and I mean NO ONE.
