Taking into account what ROW_BOT states I don't think it worth the money you have to spent to attend the assessment :(

McNugget 30th Sep 2016 19:18

You must be joking..

Obviously they're not even aiming at CX C-Scale with the package on offer; let along B-Scale skippers.

Which also means they have no hope of getting DEC when compared to what else is out there.

Still a true bottom feeder. But it's ok, they have A350s coming.

Quick question. What does it involve to get a HK licence ? Is it just the usual air law like in most countries or is there more to it ? Thanks

Application Procedures

3.1 The applicant must submit Form DCA 605 (and DCA 218 if apply on the basis of a foreign professional pilot's licence) together with all required evidence of his identity, experience and qualifications in support of his application.
3.2. After assessing the applicant's experience and qualifications, conversion terms will be issued. Licence will be granted only if all the conditions in the conversion terms are fulfilled.
3.3 An application for professional pilot's licence will not be processed normally until the applicant can show evidence of a genuine requirement to hold a Hong Kong professional pilot's licence and exercise the privileges of the licence on a Hong Kong registered aircraft.

Contact

4.1 For application or enquiry, you can write to:
Personnel Licensing Office
Flight Standards and Airworthiness Division
Civil Aviation Department
1 Tung Fai Road
Hong Kong International Airport
Lantau, Hong Kong

Expect 6 months to get an answer on conversion terms from CAD (can be longer or short as the process involves them writing to your state which issued your licence to verify the details supplied on the application). To convert an overseas ATPL (airplane) you need a minimum of 2800 hrs.

Strong rumours that HKA will present a whole new 'package' to attract newbies.

Arrowhead 4th Oct 2016 06:27

Can anyone confirm that staff travel on HKA in standby in economy, with "possible but not guaranteed" upgrade to Business if there is space...? I take it that also means no lounge access and no Business meals....?

Also, how is the ZED system? Who are the partner airlines?

Thanks v much :)

SW1 4th Oct 2016 09:47

you only get business class with Aeroflot(space available) the rest is economy(space available)

Arrowhead 5th Oct 2016 11:08

Even on HKA itself? It's own Captains go economy?

SW1 5th Oct 2016 11:57

FOC on HKA network, yes you get business, and its still space available

IGNITIONS 8th Oct 2016 17:05

Do not go for HKA

I was told that The management from Malaysia is making their own rules and promess many Malaysians to become Cpt after 1 year !
They fail most of the FO A320/330 for command upgrade...unless you are friend with those guys lol.
Roster is bad...always flying china, so better to fly for Dragon or Cathay where the package is better, especially 42 annual leaves, child's school fees paid, better roster and destinations.
Most of the FO in HKA are making less than 60hours a month (around 86000hkd).
Cathay is hiring direct entry FO A330 / B747F and salary starting 103000 hkd (84 hours duty) + Package and real airline.

Is this "new" package already out ?

Trafalgar 14th Oct 2016 16:42

Ignitions, you state that CX is a 'real airline'. Take it from someone who has been here more than 20 years: CX is no longer a 'real airline'. Their package for DEFO is something that leaves new joiners in an untenable situation. You will be worked to the limits of our limitations, and you will not make enough to live in a decent accommodation. There are better jobs in your home country.

IGNITIONS 29th Oct 2016 03:18

No new package, only words from management

HKA is not an airlines compare to CX or KA.
Most of people I know who work for CX or KA are much more happy than HKA.
Even you work hard in CX and KA, you still make more money than HKA!!!
Or last chance, don't even apply for any of them...
Look for another airlines in UAE, Europe or China...

They seem to have an endless supply of well qualified Malasian Pilots to hire from at the moment, so why would they offer more? No desperation and that is what it takes for us to get a pay raise.

Dont get me wrong, the recent Malasian guys they have hired here I have met are great guys, but cannot ignore market forces.

IGNITIONS 30th Oct 2016 11:05

Any feed back ?

etops777 31st Oct 2016 01:01

Proficiency check

Do they still do the pilot proficiency check once every 3 month?
