CX loses another trainer

I guess Cathay just lost another trainer:

Cathay Pacific pilot jailed over child support payments | South China Morning Post

So how many missed duties do you get for not showing up to work for 3 months?

Arfur Dent 28th Apr 2016 12:52

Very sad really in the big picture. :{

oriental flyer 28th Apr 2016 15:09

So very sad on two levels

Firstly the sentence seems very harsh and will be with him forever

Secondly just how many women in Canada earn C$ 9700 per month
And how many earn that much for sitting at home doing sweet FA

This is what is so wrong with alimony which is generally skewed in favor of the woman . When did marriage become a meal ticket for life ? And why is an ex wife entitled to continue living at the same standard that she had become accustomed to whilst married ?

The Same doesn't apply when you lose your job , you get laid off, the salary stops coming in .you change your spending to match reality .
A really great guy i'm very sad to read this

bm330 28th Apr 2016 16:05

Half the story ... again.

He was jailed for contempt, not avoiding support.

She is not an impoverished, stay-at-home Mom. She's a skipper with Air Canada. Her publicly stated motivation was to destroy his life.

Seems to be working.

A3301FD 28th Apr 2016 16:23

WTF ???

She is a Captain for Air Canada, receives CAD$ 9700 per month, and stated that her sole motivation was **** him for life ???

WTF was that FEMALE honkie judge thinking...oh wait, standby.

So CX will have him down for MD and bringing CX into disrepute in the eyes of the public.

Still being based overseas, he could self certify for 7 days and claim 83 on 'stress'.

Either way...poor guy is fecked.

airplaneridesrfun 28th Apr 2016 16:26

What is the code for incarceration? Doesn't matter, the company will be out of a G day worker for a few months now. That will really hurt their crewing efforts!

Pogie 28th Apr 2016 18:21

I don't think she's flying for Air Canada anymore. Judge in Canada ruled he had to pay child support. He chose to flee the country and chose money over ever seeing his kids again. California judge ruled that he had to pay, so he left California. Hong Kong judge ruled he had to pay and froze his assets. He chose to defy that order, and secretly moved his money to the US defying the court order. That's what got him in jail -- a contempt of court charge for defying the court's orders.

What kind of guy chooses money over ever seeing his kids again? What kind of guy chooses to go to jail over handing over money that he's deemed to owe in 3 jurisdictions? Flying with the guy is 8 hours of listening to him boast about how much money he's makes. That's all he ever talks about.

See the trend here? The media is calling him the "Catch Me If You Can" pilot. He thinks he can just break the law and do whatever he wants as long as he runs and hides his money. How many of you would abandon your kids for life to make the number in your bank account bigger?

I'm surprised that CX hasn't fired him. He's a constant source of embarrassment, not only to CX but to his fellow pilots as well. But he is a G-day working, CC puppet, so I'm sure that they won't.

This thread needs to be closed. Many false claims on here are throwing a man into disrepute. Moderators, please shut this down.

cpdude 28th Apr 2016 19:43

I cannot believe what I'm reading here in regards to the accusations which have been posted. Shameful!

Yes, delete this thread now!

airplaneridesrfun 28th Apr 2016 19:46

Which claims are false?

A3301FD 28th Apr 2016 22:00

Always more to the story...

Cpt. Underpants 28th Apr 2016 22:59

This is so inappropriate.

Like him or loathe him, crucifixion on a public forum is just wrong.

This thread should be closed

Oasis 28th Apr 2016 23:17

Don't see why any man would ever want to get married these days.
50% chance of losing 50% of your money, oh and then pay alimony!

LongTimeInCX 28th Apr 2016 23:55

Every cloud has a silver lining.
Apart from missing out on the illy coffee, he can report back whether prison food is better than the crew meals as has been suggested more than once.

Was this the same person that was one of the Gang of Four, who were colloquially nicknamed "N T S B", who were the first guys to skip off to do freighter commands out of seniority on crap terms?

Regardless, the sentence seems completely inappropriate for the perceived error in judgement.
The error in judgement being getting married to start with.
These days, why would you.

I hope there's an adequate appeal process, that would at least allow any sentence to be suspended.

cxorcist 29th Apr 2016 01:11

Doesn't matter! One of our own is in a Chinese prison. Every possible energy should be exerted to support him, not tear him down on a public blog. This is a disgrace...

MODERATORS, where are you???

Trafalgar 29th Apr 2016 01:21

Wow, really sad to see some of our colleagues so quick to kick someone when they are down. NONE of you know ANY of the full facts. NOT ONE OF YOU. Pogie, you are a sanctimonious pr*ck. Again, there is FAR more to this story than you have read. The guy is suffering for many reasons, and one day it could be you, for this or any other reason. Have some compassion. Unbelievable how cold hearted and judgemental some of you can be. If he already isn't suffering enough, WE don't need to add to his misery by encouraging the company to fire one of our own. STFU. :ugh:

Frogman1484 29th Apr 2016 01:31

You right we do not know all of the facts. What we do know is that he broke the law by moving money against the order of the court.

You break the law you get punished...its as simple as that! It does not matter if his ex is a money hungry monster, that is not why he is going to jail.

Trafalgar 29th Apr 2016 01:34

Again, you do not know all the facts. And of course, the courts are always correct and fair in their judgements. And even if he is guilty of the contempt, it doesn't justify us being judgemental and encouraging his dismissal. "there but for the grace.....". Might be worth remembering that.

Left Coaster 29th Apr 2016 03:32

cxorcist...

"One of your own?" Bollocks...this guy wouldn't cross the street to p*ss on you if you were on fire, all he was interested in was himself and his money. Always has been, and I've known what he is capable of for many long years, and now he pays a price for his greed and total disrespect for any one but himself. One of yours? I would hope not...

GMEDX 29th Apr 2016 03:55

This is Pprune

This is Pprune, it is a harsh place. If you don't like it don't read it. Stay on Yammer.
Are you saying it is OK to pillory the KA Captain on here recently but not this guy?
He is jailed for defying the court, look back at the history and he has had plenty of chances to pay up and get on with his life. He thought himself too clever and above the courts.
I will be very surprised if he keeps his job.
