HKPA offer update.

They want us to lift the training captain ban and not re-implement it for the duration of the (HKPA) agreement?

That's rich.
I guess this way they can stick it to us in many other ways and we won't be able to retaliate.

Well said Rod! :ok:

Don't be fooled (HKPA pilots and those desiring upgrades & basings) by this ridiculous and insincere email. It is nothing more than a desperate attempt to fracture your resolve. See it for what it is, pure desperation. Step back and see the forest from the trees. CX has not received a single A350 yet (50 on order and 20 777X after that), and they are already begging for training ban relief. If you have half a clue, this ought to be setting off alarm bells in your head. Stay the course. This is working. If it weren't, you would not be reading emails like this latest one from the GMA. They are trying to deal directly with you. Stand behind your Union and each other. You have to chose... A Company which just lost over a billion (USD) in fuel hedges and constantly works to degrade your CoS OR the pilots' union which is trying to stop them. The AOAs are far from perfect, but they are a far better choice than some "Johnny come lately" manager looking to do a touch and go through CX and depart with millions of dollars skimmed from your pockets.

Well said. :ok:

They don't even offer type conversions when people take bases. Unless people start using their joker, and that would only means one or two conversions (if I remember correctly, only 10% of the bidder can switch type with their joker)

Don't give in to their bluff. They need bases. Not as bad as some of us do, but they do. It saves them money, it gets them reserve coverage.
And they certainly need the lifting of the training ban for much more than offering a few basing slots.

As for the HKPA talks?
Discuss about 25 years housing if we take option 1? What is there to discuss anymore? It was promised 7 years ago!

If they want us to lift the training ban, it is very simple:
They give us back negotiated RPs, they give the promised 25y housing deal, and they raise the HKPA to proper levels (option 2 if people believe it is acceptable)
Not just one of these items. All of them!

Well said gents 👍

We've been trying to negotiate in good faith with this company for years, even decades. For the best part of that time they've strung us along and offered crumbs at the last opportunity. Now the GMA says we need to talk!

Well I say, we give them our list of what we want. All of it, RPs, HKPA, housing, pay deal structures for years to come. We don't need to talk anymore, we've done it for years.

It's their turn to act. When they act, on all of it, is when we stop cc and the training ban. Until then, let's take a leaf out of their book, and pull the shutters down. They've spent years demonstrating and teaching us how to act with contempt and no integrity, let's not let all their hard work go to waste.

If this were a poker game, the opponent just blinked.

Stay the course.

I think in doing so they've also admitted the contract compliance has no affect. Training ban on the other hand......

DO NOT BE F@#*ING FOOLED

This is a company run by a man known by his pilots as Ivan Who. A man who barely speaks English and has continued to allow this airline to become a Low Cost Carrier.

A company that in the 21st century publicly scales back expansion AND ADMITS that it is due to their pilots doing their job and nothing more.

A company whose contract philosophy is "sign or be fired".

A company who will rip up RPs and replace it with policy, ready to be changed whenever they want.

This company is a joke run by clowns. There is no compromise. It doesn't exist in their dictionary.

As the above poster wrote, we have the leverage. Demand what we want and accept nothing less.

Trouble is there is a real low cost down the road at HK Express... who are much better at it than Cathay is

rmac 10th Mar 2016 09:26

I've just had a look at the board of CPA on their website. Combination of long serving "company" management from all corners of Swire Group, mixed with some politically expedient appointments and a sprinkling of entitled Tai-pan. I'm not surprised that CPA's air fares are far and away the highest on almost every route they fly, while the standard of equipment, service and catering continues to incrementally decline. Where is all the money from these high fare, high yield flights going ??

I sense that you might all be on the slow road to "f@ck3d" and that Cathay Dragon will become the new core one day, becoming another decent standard Asian airline, but nothing special as it has historically been at Cathay Pacific...

But that is all just an uninformed guess on my part :-(
