"As a way of expressing their appreciation for company support during this trying time, Delta employees spearheaded “Project 767” to raise money to pay for Delta’s first Boeing 767. Led by three flight attendants, the project was an inspiring effort to raise $30 million through the combined donations of employees, retirees and friends."

Well done Delta.. Cx will never be like that unfortunately...

"It is essential for our employees to have an ownership stake in our business and share in the record-breaking achievements they helped create," said Richard Anderson, Delta's CEO.

anyone listening at CX?

American did the same thing. Reversing years of toxic relationships.

It's amazing what a group can do when they work together as a team. We seem to be trying to do the opposite with the push apart, divide and blame. A coherent group can accomplish some amazing things. The 'it's your fault' punish, divide, and blame (when folks are essentially doing the right things) hurts everyone--especially shareholders and the bottom line.

Doing the right thing really doesn't take much and pays HUGE dividens. Shame we are so very short sighted in this regard.

All that fancy schooling wasted when they could have learned everything the need to know about cohesive groups in a 2-hour movie:

Staff college wasn't wasted then:)

Sorry CPA777, Cathay has already been there, done that. Not only have they done it, the cap was three months salary which in effect meant that we could receive 16 months salary per year (12 months Salary, 1 Month Christmas Bonus and Profit Share up to 3 months worth). I cannot recall the actual Profit Share numbers now, but on at least three occasions it was not far off the full three months. I know things are vastly different these days, but it has not always been as it now is.

Delta made a 21% return on investment and a 12.5% profit margin!

Shows that the Asian airline business model (high service, everything included) is not as successful as the new US/ LCC model (low service, charge extra fees for everything)

Hopefully CX management can adapt, but I think they are too wedded to their luxury staff travel to change CX to a more profitable business. Meanwhile, Scoot/ Air Asia/ Cebu Pacific will continue to grow.

I don't think there has been one airline so far with a successful long term low cost model. Air Asia X is haemorrhaging money, Scoot simply use Singapore Airlines facilities and Jetstar didn't do very well.

Low cost/long haul seems harder than it looks.
