New Working Group ??

A new working group?? we already have one, it's called the AOA NC !!!

Dear 747 Aviators.

We know that the rosters on the 747 and particular the pure freighter rosters continue to have a large amount of uncertainty and disruption which makes it incredibly difficult to manage and provide the levels of stability that we would like and need.

We would like to open with a big thank you for your hard work and the professionalism that is consistently demonstrated. We appreciate that most of you go out of your way to assist the Company and are keen to get the job done as well as get home to spend time with your family and friends.

On this note, we are working together on a new crew management roster system which will give greater control over your lifestyle and roster. Until then however we need to find a way to manage the 747 fleet and rosters in a way that meets commercial demand and is sustainable from a crewing and lifestyle perspective.

We in FOP management could just work to address these and the other issues based on what we perceive the key issues to be. Although it might take a little more time though, we would prefer to invite your full participation in making sure that we are aware of the key issues, and of the most sensible solutions. To this end we would like to set up a working group to look at the rosters both in the short and medium term to work with the company to see where we can make changes and enhancements. With input from each of the relevant unions plus crew involvement we hope that some great ideas will result in positive changes in the roster and overall stability.

We will come out shortly with more thoughts on how we could structure the working group but in the meantime if you have any constructive suggestions about changes and solutions, please can you email Gus who will collate the initial feedback and suggestions.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a sincere opportunity! Please participate, and let’s align your Cathay Pacific career with your expectations.

Kindest regards

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is a sincere opportunity! Please participate, and let’s align your Cathay Pacific career with your expectations."

Seriously?

After twenty years during which every ounce of conceivable productivity, good will, and pay cuts have been squeezed from the pilot group?

"Sincerity"...really?

Eight months after every other employee received a pay raise?

Flew a split duty the other day, and the flight attendants were talking about the guaranteed day off they receive following a split duty. How nice for them.....

Everywhere we fly to on a long haul the flight attendants receive 48 hours rest, while the pilots are on minimum rest.....

Positioning in economy, following a long haul pattern, is now considered rest and relaxation for pilots.....

Degradation of staff travel benefits....no problem, they're only pilots.

I could go on and on. But suffice it to say, respect for the pilot group has been sadly nonexistent for some time now. I'll believe "sincerity" when I see a tangible change in the manner and tone of their attitude towards the pilot group.

They'll get there willing volunteers.

Been claimed on other forums there is a 'lot of goodwill' on the freighter.

Keep dashing in to help out chaps!

"A lot of good will on the freighters" is not quite accurate. We just need guidance on how to handle the roster disruptions on the freighter. With perhaps 80% of my flights delayed/cancelled/changed we need to know the unions' position on how to handle it. We're perfectly happy to always show up at our scheduled time and this will mean not a single freighter will pass through ANC unscathed. As I envision it I would maybe make it to ANC then I would never leave. I can't imagine a time where I could show up at scheduled time for a delayed flight and get a new accurate show time.

"With perhaps 80% of my flights delayed/cancelled/changed"

A situation which although undesirable could become acceptable if you were to be adequately compensated IMHO!

Feel for you, been there!
