Colin Harris
 

Sadly Colin Harris, ex Dragonair engineer, died after a long struggle with cancer on 17th August. Although Colin was an engineer I am posting this on a Pilot's net as Colin was well known by all Dragonair pilots during the early days of the airline. In his prime Colin was not just good at his job, he was great company, totally disrespectful of authority and not above making jokes about pilots! However always done with good sense of humour.

The full details for his funeral are not finalised - what I have got is:

"Thursday 4th Sept 2014 – the Cremation

14:00 hrs Short service at the Buddhist hospital for Colin (details TBC with Rev Stephen Miller, the Senior Chaplin at the Mariners)
15:00 hrs Depart by car from the hospital to transport Colin’s body to the crematorium (about a 1 hour drive)
17:00 hrs The cremation in Wo Hop Shek crematorium
18:00 hrs Return to the Mariners (?)


Saturday 6th September 2014 – the Memorial Service

Possibly a memorial service at the Mariners (Service around 11 am with a gathering of Colin’s friends in the Wheelhouse Bar at 12 noon ?)"

The details could probably be confirmed by the Mariners for those interested in attending.

That's sad news , Colin was part of Hong Kong's aviation furniture. He was also Metrojet's first Engineer looking after the Hawker 700 back in 1995.

RIP Colin.

Not only the furniture but also the wallpaper.

He lived through the best of the aviation industry in HKG...the old Aero Club, Red Lips and Frank Seaton.Who could ask for more:ok:

Funeral and memorial service arrangements.
 

The details of Colin's funeral and memorial service are as follows:

Thursday 4th Sept 2014 – the Funeral Service at the Buddhist Hospital followed by the Cremation at Wo Hop Shek

Suggested dress code is white shirt, black trousers and black tie (no need to wear a suit)
The Buddhist Hospital is around 5 mins walk from Lok Fu MTR Station so I would suggest that those who attend travel there by MTR.

14:45 hrs Arrive at the Buddhist Hospital in Lok Fu (the Service will be in a small room in the basement of the Hospital)
15:00 hrs Short service at the Buddhist Hospital for Colin (given by the Rev Stephen Miller, the Senior Chaplin at the Mariners)
15:30 hrs Depart by minibus from the hospital, accompanying Colin’s body to the Wo Hop Shek Crematorium in the New Territories (about a 1 hour drive)
16:30 hrs Rev Miller will say a few words at the appropriate time.
17:00 hrs The cremation at Wo Hop Shek (assume that the cremation takes 30 mins)
17:30 hrs Depart Wo Hop Shek for Kowloon by minibus
18:30 hrs Arrive Kowloon / the Mariners Club being the last stop (other drop of points in Kowloon to be agreed on the day)

Saturday 6th September 2014 – the Memorial Service at the Mariners Club

The Memorial Service is expected to be more casual than the Funeral Ceremony.
Suggested dress code is smart casual, no ties required.

10:45 hrs Arrive at the Mariners Club, Middle Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
11:00 hrs Memorial service at the Mariners in the Chapel on the 2nd Floor (Service given by the Rev. Stephen Miller, plus some messages read out by close friends)
12:00 hrs Drinks and some snacks in the China Coast Bar (Located on the 3rd Floor of the Mariners)
13:00 hrs Depart Mariners Club.
