New 777s coming in

With a six more 777-300ers coming in this year, and another 6 in 2015, how the heck is Cathay Pathetic going man all these new shiny planes?

With 777 FOs and Capt hitting 90 something hours every month, surely they have to do something about it.

DEFO lol?
Upgrade SO after 2 years lol?

betpump5 2nd Aug 2014 17:44

Never.lol
Yes, if that's what it takes.lol

You need to insert "some" into that sentence.

There are still Res and o days going untouched.

Plenty of G day workers re writing their rosters and taking the cash in a poorly thought out short term gain though.

lol. ?

Sam Ting Wong 3rd Aug 2014 03:01

Most of the 777 are effectively replacements for retiring 747.

Sqwak7700 3rd Aug 2014 03:07

And A343 as well. We still got 11 of those things.

And keep in mind that we have not been given a pay rise in 2 years. So the approval to just work everyone into OT is a productivity linked pay rise. They retain full control of when it is handed out and they did not even need to negotiate it.

This is all in good faith by the way.

;)

Crew composition

London today
One flight Two Capt.
Another Two SO

Loopdeloop 1st Sep 2014 08:08

In a 6 month period beginning December we have 3 new long haul routes starting up so they can't all be replacements. They'll be hoping we vote in contract compliance so they can blame the inevitable turmoil on us.

oriental flyer 1st Sep 2014 08:26

Well when the company makes its final offer of a 45% pay rise .
I will be more than happy to work on G days and cancel any talk of contract compliance

ron burgandy 1st Sep 2014 11:40

And let's not forget one 350 per month for four years is only 15 months away. The current negotiations should only be for 2014/15. Because locking us into anything beyond next year will be far more beneficial to the company than us

Are they putting enough local kids through FTA to cope?

Is something gonna give soon? I hear the training dept is at breaking point.

Yonosoy Marinero 1st Sep 2014 13:39

The solution is already being implemented: 2 SO's on lang haul.

I seem to see such a crew every time I go through dispatch these days.
All because of 'unforeseen circumstances', I'm sure.

CPA777 1st Sep 2014 15:03

I personally think CX will reduce the upgrade time for SO from the 3-4year mark to around 2 years. They sit around at the back doing jack all, the Dragonair cadets they graduated with at FTA get the RHS straight away when they join the company.

But who knows, it's Cathay.

betpump5 1st Sep 2014 15:58

Cathay do not bring the upgrade time down or up - the market does and always has. Upgrade time has been 2 and half years in the past, it has also been almost 5 years too.

However, not withstanding my market point, at present, they can't get JFOs through quick enough - training department are at breaking point and Zhuhai playing silly buggers every week hasn't helped with the back log of guys waiting for BT.

We need more trainers too (if they apply which is quite an argument in itself in this current climate). And don't forget the trainers to train the trainers (when they ain't training JFOs). A problem first brought to light when Line checks became 2 sectors.

Oh yes, very interesting times ahead.

SloppyJoe 1st Sep 2014 17:32

Could do a 1 sector line check with an SO pxing to have some training on the way back.
