Militant Unionists
Not all were sent out in ships, but many should be sent back by whatever means is available.

Sadly it doesn't matter where "they came from" but most of us know the Biffs are the most pedantic lot ever to fly with. Throw "the book" away and they would be lost! "It says here mate.....got to cover your arse..." As Two a Tigers says, just fly the plane from A to B with the least amount of fuss!
|
Ok..I have to ask...what does BIFFO..stand for.?
|
SOPS surprised you haven't heard of the expression in CX. BIFFO stands for big ignorant f***er from oz
|
When I first read this thread, my initial thoughts was that the person in question must be one of our Yank colleagues with their Mickey Mouse Radio Calls asking for ride reports.
To be honest, I wasn't that surprised either when it turned out to be an Aussie. It just proves the long held fact that the British lead the way in standards of professionalism in the aviation industry. |
That's true, the poms do make the best pilots and if only they would stay there in pommyland to maintain the standard instead of flooding down to Oztraya....
Hard to take these complaints seriously because behind every whinging pom complaining about Oz is usually an immigration form stamped with: REJECTED I guess that's why they stay so long past the use-by date in HK and other places. Putting off the inevitable? The funny part is, the ATC dicks on those indian freqs are so useless they deserve a kick in the arse now and then. I guess the poms see them as future neighbours when they shift to pomgolia to open a curry shop and take offence on their behalf! :p PS I used to be CP of a 206 operation in the territory and we got the most CVs from desperate pommies!!! |
Aussies aren't perfect. That's for sure.
Let's talk about who is. That'll be more interesting. |
"Aussies aren't perfect. " That's for sure.
Ain't that the truth? Whatever happened to "common sense" and "planning?" |
Goodbye beach.
Go away. |
Professionalism.
Sometimes one has to respond to claims made by others. In this instance I wish to defend the professionalism of Australian pilots and Aircrew which has been questioned by others on this thread. It has been stated that the British lead the way in standards. If that means " pucker" use of airborne radio then I have to agree. If on the other hand it means flying skills then I am not in agreement.
As examples, QANTAS, the second longest established international airline in the world has never lost a jet transport aircraft. The RAAF, the second longest operator of the Lockheed C130 in the world, has never lost an aircraft in the 56 years they have operated the type. Just wonder how that stacks up against our British "Professionals"? Maybe our boys are not so "pucker", but it seems they are pretty capable operators. |
I think you mean 'pukka', an Indian word, as in 'a very pukka sahib'. 'Pucker' is a term more appropriate to a certain part of the anatomy being affected by certain situations in aviation.
The boys who 'played through' at Don Muang came close. There are cringeworthy operators of many nationalities and backgrounds at CX. Even some of the S/Os are making names for themselves. A few contributors on this thread must have been frightened by the koalas as young children when Mummy took them to the zoo. |

Sorry CD, I am only a Colonial when all is said and done. Spelling never was a strong point with me.

Posting photos to show Australians make terrible Pilots is just plain stupid and childish carry on.
We could post photos of those silly BA chaps placing their 744 right wing into a building in JNB too if we wanted.... It wouldn't prove anything... We are better than that. Just remember those two god awful Pilots on the SUB A330 incident were Australian too......really were they? Oh well that's different they must have trained in the UK !! This thread is getting boring and childish. LOCK IT. |
Black humour
Silberfuchs. The RAAF B707 was not mentioned because it was neither a Qantas aircraft ( at the time of the accident) nor a C130. That particular accident should never have happened and in all probability would not have but for an attempt to conduct a demonstration for which there was no published procedure and, if to be demonstrated at all should have been done in a simulator. As for the B744 at Bangkok, only money spent on a repair saved a write-off. We all know the Darwin B717 event was not Qantas International.

Nosepicker318,
my post had an element of Sh1tstirring and I wanted to see what reaction I could get from an already ammusing post regarding R/T. However I stand by my sentence that I believe the British Chaps in this airline are a cut above the rest when it comes to professional standards - namely R/T. This doesn't mean flying skills are better, decision making is better, never having an incident etc etc etc. I am simply, from my experience, talking about standards i.e: Personal grooming, pride in uniform, pride in ICAO R/T phraseology etc. When I fly with an Aussie, it feels like I'm attending a BBQ where I will be offered a can of Fosters and an over cooked Shrimp. |
Darwin 717
The aircraft you mention was never written off. It was repaired and is still in service.
Originally VH-SMH with Impulse and delivered to that carrier in 2000. Re-registered VH-VQE when operating for Airconnex on behalf of Qantaslink. Re-registered VH-NXE when transferred to NJS/ Cobham on behalf of Qantaslink. Still flying today with Cobham. |
Pumpboy5---that's funny because you've obviously never heard a yank on the radio have ya??
Outa 2.5 for 37oh.... 4 burnin ready to go....( HK ground sent the Fire trucks to that one, back in Kai Tak and I heard it myself ) Etc In my experience 99% of all Cathay Pilots do a good professional job on the R/T. As do all Australian RPT Pilots worldwide. Now find something else to do PLEASE.. |
flyingins, duly edited. It was not a good look, though. And they also went to an awful lot of trouble to repair the BKK effort, I note that the previously posted image has been removed.
Betpump, they're 'prawns' mate! |
