How do you file a not guilty plee when you clearly were in the wrong uniform and are documented as doing so? That just makes the judge more pi**ed with you for having to take the time to prove it...

And I'm pretty sure Atlas are now aware anyway! Ah, power of the interwebz...but it's ok, he's navy reserve, nice guy and it's such a lovely day, your honour...

Believe from memory he was an ex F/A-18 driver who joined about '07.
Not sure when or why he left.

I was going to opine that he didn't like the uniform - but clearly, in what may have been a colourful lapse of judgement, he obviously did retain a certain affinity for it.

Maybe that's where all the hats went!

Do CX fly to Honolulu these days? If they don't he was being a bit stupid.

I believe he got fired from Cathay for wearing his Navy uniform to go to work. :}

Perhaps he still has an out standing roster change he hasn't acknowledged - Your Fired! And he still gets rosters.

That is a normal initial plea in the US, I'm sure in your country too. It just avoids immediate sentencing. I know Joshu, he is the first to tell you he is a Navy F18 pilot. Also it doesn't make sense Atlas has KCM Cathay certainly does not.

I am sure that even if this bloke spent 10 years inside an American FEMA camp he would still be receiving rosters!!
And yes, don't worry about the uniform issue, I hear that TT kept his Boardroom Pulp Fiction Gimp outfit when he left CX, and he still wears it!!

Wow this is crazy! I flew with him a bunch and wondered where he went. He was a good guy.

HONOLULU — A pilot fired from Cathay Pacific Airlines said he wore his former employer’s uniform and badge to bypass security at Honolulu International Airport.

Joshu Osmanski, 39, a member of the U.S. Navy Reserve, pleaded guilty Friday in federal court to unlawfully entering the secure area of an airport.

He said he wore the Cathay Pacific uniform and badge months after he was terminated from his job “so that I could cut the line and keep my shoes on while going through Honolulu airport security.”

He knew it was wrong, he said.

In addition to wearing the uniform, he had the Cathay Pacific badge on a lanyard around his neck, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracy Hino. Osmanski told Transportation Security Administration officers he was part of the Cathay Pacific flight crew. He was allowed to pass through without undergoing normal passenger security screening, Hino said.

Federal agents later questioned Osmanski, who told them he no longer worked for the airline. After he was terminated from Cathay Pacific, Osmanski didn’t return his flight crew credentials as he was supposed to, Hino said.

According to a plea agreement, Osmanski purchased tickets to fly on Delta Air Lines to the mainland to start training for his new job as pilot with Atlas Air, Inc.

He’s no longer at that job and now studying dentistry at Tulane University in New Orleans, his defense attorney Birney Bervar said.

Osmanski faces a maximum of 10 years in prison when he’s sentenced in February. He also faces a maximum fine of $250,000.

I believe one of our ex PX guys who's now with CX (left a few years ago) was overflying pom and tuned into Px company frequency, asked for crew duties, reply...'errr...captain, you're on reserve'...tru tok!! :E

Feel bad for this guy. Went from a top gun, to jobless, and now faces prison time and fine. Definitely took a wrong turn in life somewhere. From fighter pilot to studying to become a dental assistant is a big step down. Good luck, Mate. Hope all works out.

Not sure what's going on here - I can assure you Tulane isn't cheap. It's the full Dental School, according to his attorney. Maybe he's getting GI benefits, somehow - although a conviction would probably nix those.

Then again, when your lawyer goes by "Birney" (Bernie?) anything goes. :eek:

My dentist makes several hundred thousand US dollars a year and works only Mondays to Thursdays !

My dental surgeon makes near a million US dollars a year ! He used to fly helicopters. And he only works 3 days a week.

So dentistry is not a step down.

I am certainly not envious of a dentist's day to day routine.

Drilling into infected cavities and releasing sometimes years of accumulated oozing infection after administering the absolute minimum amount of anesthetic, as after all, anesthetic is a direct cost that you can control and quantify.

Why didn't he just bide his time and go into management if he found the above job description attractive? :confused:

OT: No wonder health care costs in the US are totally out of control with those salaries, even when compared to other so called first world countries.

Perhaps not reliable...but this thread on another forum makes it sound like he was still doing military service so he was fired.
