Cathay pacific uniforms too sexy
Cathay Pacific uniforms 'too sexy', say flight attendants
Flight attendants for Hong Kong carrier Cathay Pacific are lobbying the airline to redesign their uniforms saying they are too revealing and may provoke sexual harassment from customers. Cathay Pacific The union representing the cabin crew said the blouses are too short, meaning their flesh is exposed when they bend down to collect items from food trolleys. They also argue that the knee-length skirts are too form-fitting. "Whenever a flight attendant bends down, her waistline is exposed," union secretary Michelle Choi told the South China Morning Post. "We believe the company intentionally does this to make us look a bit sexier and to let the passenger see more." The union said the uniforms are leading to a rise in sexual harassment on flights, which is estimated to affect each attendant once every ten flights on average. Ms Choi said most of the harassment came from first class passengers and frequent fliers. "I think part of the reason is that we treat our passengers so well," she said. Cathay Pacific said it takes the issue of sexual harassment "very seriously" and crew are welcome to exchange their uniform at any time. |
CX treats sexual harassment seriously??
Really? Didn't a Boeing manger, JL, not get punished despite his many inappropriate advances?? Rules for some hey?? |
Not when fat elephants or malnorished monkeys bend down :}
Yea, short blouses make people look proportionately taller BUT still cannot compare to our lovely Emirates and Singapore girls. They prove that you dont have to try hard to look good. Uniforms can only take you that far, its how you talk and look that counts. :} http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo....main/6070798/ No offence to CX staff, but I don't think there is ANYTHING "sexy" about their uniform. It is a skirt suit, simple lines and simple cut, nothing overly feminine or revealing. I never got the impression that Cathay have sold an image of sex appeal as the likes of SQ and VS have for years. I personally find the whole uniform rather boring, not that its a negative thing, I don't choose my airline by the uniform the crew wear, I choose my airline based on price and standard of service. |
Personally, I actually think the current uniform is a step up from the previous.
|
You don't like the Maxim's look?
|
ROFL!! :}
Maxims look is cool cool. Personally I feel its more like a chinese hot pot restaurant look! Whilst KA is like all-you-can-eat dim sum restaurant! Good job following the theme :D |
The Most Beautiful Cabin Crew in the World
1. Singapore Airlines Over 40 years ago, Singapore Airlines initiated a marketing campaign designed to elevate its flight attendants, the "Singapore girls", to icon status. We definitely think looks play a part in the Singapore girl appeal..... But looks aside, it is also the attendants' reputed grace, warmth and extra-mile service that usually has passengers crushing. "The difference between a Singapore girl and most other airlines," one instructor of the four-month training school in Singapore explained, "is that when you ask for a blanket a Singapore girl will unwrap it and put it over you rather than just hand you the plastic wrapped blanket." Guess Maxims can't do that := |
CX cabin crew generally do a fine job, it's what they have to work with that's the problem. 'Cheap' and 'nasty' are two adjectives that come to mind. Ah well, let's distract everyone with a beat up about 'sexy uniforms'. There's no such thing as 'bad publicity'.
Take a look at one of CX's competitors: The most luxurious plane in the world offers a three-room suite, personal butler and gourmet food - but it will cost you £12,500 ONE WAY | Mail Online And unlike CX, I bet business class pax don't have to ask for salt and pepper (which comes in a packet, like in a cheap railway caff). |
When I saw the title, I knew Soul Planet would be posting. He just can't let go.
|
Not when everryone else here is complaining about cheap service by ugly girls! :}
Thats right Captain Dart, bad publicity is like an ugly girl complaining she is pretty. Come on, we all know which airline is the most ching chang! := |
Hideous grooming & cheap service
Dont worry DB, there will be a queue waiting to throw coffee on us and then we will have a dark brown shirt that makes us manly.
I think no matter what cx does, it doesnt change the fact that most pax have the impression of unexperienced kids and ageing old women. Sorry but there is nothing you can do to override your competitors' services like Emirates, Singapore or Korean Air. They are beautiful inside out, sorry kitty. Cheap service, hideous grooming, and a RUDE AWAKENING from the coming new T&C. |
Slight thread drift but on a recent flight the ISM and SP told us that due to cost cutting no more fresh Salmon in First Class from next month.

CX is a LCC hiding in plain sight :yuk:

Happy to come forward and say whole heartedly, they don't look sexy, they look disjointed, in random variations of a loose 'theme' and poorly tailored uniform in a land once famous for its ability to make clothes that fit.
Rest assured girls and boys, "sexy" is not what springs to the minds of the traveling public when they see cx and ka meander through the terminals, just as 'sexy' doesn't spring to mind when you see bell hops and bus boys at any other establishment. Quite possibly the only ones that think 'sexy' are themselves, when one observes the amount of preening and polishing that goes on within 30 yards of any reflective surface. The wonderment of ones own reflection appears to be quite intoxicating to the majority! |
Air Koryo North Korea
Soul Planet: (12 wheeler to note)
While I do not disagree with your comments about the attributes of the famous "Singapore Girls" it is pretty obvious that you have never been to North Korea or flown on their national carrier Air Koryo. The little known girls of Air Koryo are exceptional in that they stand head and shoulders about all others in the aviation industry. The reason for this is that they are hand picked young ladies from a privileged section of the community and they sell their country proudly. You should treat yourself to a flight on Air Koryo (say Beijing to Pyongyang) and see for yourself. I guarantee you will be impressed. Regards O.P. |
Lowkoon - Nailed it!

Will never see that even in our Economy class. Enjoy |
turn your phone off you wan*er.

Okay dokay |
Flap 10,
How nice of you to putt a photo online of an innocent girl without her knowledge... As I commute often with CX I think the girls do a very good job. Way better than most European airlines and I think more or less on par with the ME carriers. |
Kim Jong
Firstly I didn't post anything that is not already readily available via a quick Google search. Secondly you shouldn't criticize by taking the pseudonym of someone that starved his own people to death and glorifying it. :ugh::ugh: |
Hang your Head:
Flap 10:
Both your posts #18 and #23 do you no credit. Uncalled for and definitely below the belt. O.P. |
Kim Jong, european ones are non comparable to asian carriers.
BUT try flying among asian carriers and compare cx versus East Asian carriers (Japanese, Korean, China ones) cx versus South East Asian carriers (Singapore, Thai, Malaysian) And tell me where cx service stand. I could bet my whole farm that all the East and South East carriers have better service than cx. Please go try the experience before you reply. :D http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/wp-...tewardess.jpeg Guess what comes in similar colour and sizes as ours? And the colour that means good luck, prosperity, good wealth :D |
Talking about standards,
Quoted: SINGAPORE AIRLINES cabin crew hiring I ve had the chance to talk with a few Singapore GIRLS. (Not me friend, this is posted on Flight attendants.org) They have told me some VERY interesting things!: 1 - You have to be under 25 yo to be invited for the interview 2- You must bring a bathing suit and wear it during one of the interviewing process. You must CATWALK with it in front of a panel of judges 3- They do a grooming inspection during the interview that means, hair, legs, butt, arms, make-up. If you have a scar or a tatoo, you are eliminated automatically. If you are overweight/don t have a what they consider a nice bum and breast, you are out. If you are not pretty enough, you are out. 4- There are height restrictions After you are hired: 1- You MUST maintain your weight/height proportion as they will not supply you with another uniform for size purposes. Sorry Kitty City, cannot... 2- If you did gain weight, they will ground you and post you to a office position till you lose your weight ( I m not kidding, my hairdresser s sister was for SIN and got grounded once for gaining 5 pounds). And the winner is........... |
Soul. P. You have a hair dresser ? That explains a whole lot about your posts thus far. You narcissistic fecker xx

What about all the old boilers at QF and AA? Don't they rate a mention? And the Air Koryo photos only shows pigs!
Sorry, Singapore wins hands down, hardly a girl above Size 6 and most of them absolutely stunning, not a 'two man lift' to be seen or a face covered with post menopause facial hair :ok: |

If you are overweight/don t have a what they consider a nice bum and breast, you are out. If you are not pretty enough, you are out. Annoyed at this blatant sexism on the part of the bloke doing the interviews she asked him to place his hand on the table. She took off one of her high heeled shoes and gave one of his fingers an almighty whack with the heel of her shoe. The bloke rung his hand in pain as the blonde with the dark pubic hair said to him "Now what colour is your finger, Sir?" "Black now" said the interviewer still in pain. "And that's with only one bang" said the blonde. She got the job. :D |

1. You can have a conversation with the 'qf old boilers.' And the AA people too.
2.What do you mean by "pigs"? 3. You are obviously a 'singapore person ' reading your comments here. I see in the press that the singaporeans have shown their true colours(pardon the pun) and shown their racist values again. Quote- " white trash " relating to any foreigner who lives in singa taking up locals jobs. |
That's right 004, Singapore wins hand down!
One thing I also know is their Singapore girls have to maintain a BMI (body mass index) below 21 or you will be grounded. I was pretty surprised in our hood, we have recruited flocks of severely malnourished primates and those of the opposite extreme end with BMI >50?! That explains why some of our flights are weight limited. Please invest our company resources and money wisely, look at what our 7 week FA training school produced? Fml. Singapore has theirs for 4 months! And they never recruit those with weird crooked teeth :} PS: while you need to be under 25 for a Singapore interview, I have the honour (fml again) working with lots of newbies starting off in their prime desperate 30s. No competition, Bye Bye! And whoever thinks there is an inclination of biasedness, I dare assure you Japanese carriers are almost equally win. |
They say that the Virgin A340's are the only aircraft in the world with 14 blondes and 15 black boxes!

Soul Planet
Being a new joiner, you obviously have not heard of "Cathay Club" back in the good old days in Kai Tak. It used to be a requirement for our girls to maintain a certain BMI (or whatever standard they used). If you were assessed to be over-weighted, you would be required to attend the "Cathay Club" (No, I am not talking about the bar where you could get a beer for HK$8 and you paid a monthly membership fee of only $20). I believe that requirement together with the 45 retirement age for female FA were abolished because of the anti-discrimination laws in HK.
Soul Planet, I don't know what personal issue you had with our FA before. No sane people would spend this much time bashing the same group of people. Almost every other post of yours is about how bad our girls are. You are turning into another Toss Parker of this forum. At least Toss' posts were more amusing. Yours sound very bitter and are bordering annoying. Perhaps you should spend more time preparing for your JF/O upgrade rather than wasting your time like that in front of the keyboard? |
I will bite if you dont appreciate my humor :p

We may assume the fragrant ladies of Cathay and Dragonair will not be looking to join China Southern...

Our cabin crew wouldn't make it out of the prelims. Rightly or wrongly, we've stopped hiring based in attractiveness.
|
Thank you and good night. :}
|
Cathay Pacific ladies too sexy eh! Petit 'Singapore Girls' not allowed to get bigger! Can someone remind us of the reason airlines have cabin crew and how are the numbers are decided.
